Hello AllOFMP3.com
I'm a doctoral student at the University of Colorado, USA. I've put together a web-based survey designed to explore people's connections between their music preferences and what is generally called "civic engagement": involvement in local and online communities focused on social and/or political issues. The results will be published in a scholarly journal on popular culture.
I'm recruiting people to take the survey from a number of music-related sites. I'm wondering if AllOFMP3.com would be willing to mention the survey and host a link.
Here is a link to the survey: www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=83642759781
Everyone is encouraged to complete the survey; the more people respond, the better the results will be. It will be open for participation through the end of November.
Please let me know if you can help.
Thanks
Doug

O I CAN SEE WHERE ALL THIS GOING 1EURO A TRACK. REMEMBER NAPSTAR.............
3. by Alex, 15 November 2006, 01:59
I do not think this is about the 1-EURO-A-TRACK-Thing, Dave mentions above. I do be lieve the issue is far more complex than that. First of all DRM. Digital Rights Management on a computer ALWAYS implies that there will be an expiration date on your downloaded media. Simply because it relies on Hardware Components of your computer. A specific serial number of a CPU, Harddisk, Motherboaed, whatever. Who will NEVER upgrade or change a computer system. Even if I have the chance to re-download the media (once) - carrying the cost of the transfer, not to forget - there will still be an expiration date. Did ANY representative of the music industry ever express the customer friendliness to guarantee a lifetime usability of the DRM-Protected Media???
Furthermore I am rather shocked how the music industry is willing to ignore basic constitutional rights, like the right of priviacy, by practically demanding to be anytime able to peep into my bedroom, or wherever I might have a computer. Also what are the other consequences? Do we not propagate the globalization with free trade. Or is this only globalization for the few? And what would a applicable law look like - what would be the consequence. Might it be misinterpreted so that it would be illegal for me to purchase anything from another country to my own benefit? If, for example a CD in Russia or France is sold for 10 Dollars while it is sold in my country for the double proce, might it be illegal for me to purchase this item during my travel?
Is, as a consequence, my freedom of movement endangered?
No, I do not believe that this whole thing is to be taken lightly, because we are used to give up civil rights far too easy anyhow.

Before discovering Allofmp3, my interest in commercial music had waned as a result of the extortionate cost of CD's. I now buy many more albums that I would not otherwise touch. This must mean that if I and other customers are buying music they would not otherwise purchase, record companies and artists are receiving revenue they would not otherwise receive.
Well done Allof mp3.
5. by Ivan, 15 November 2006, 02:34
Alex great post!
6. by Steve, 15 November 2006, 03:10
Thanks to Allofmp3, you have finally reached the correct price point for a downloaded album, an album which no longer includes a case, liner notes, or even an effort-free way to purchase (stuffing a CD in a bag). That's why you have risen to the top of the on-line music world. Congratulations!
7. by Dave C, 15 November 2006, 03:30
Excellent, pertinent posts by Alex, Steve Cox and Steve. I echo the sentiments expressed by the Steves: at the price point offered by allofmp3.com, I'm prepared to experiment with different artists that otherwise would never stand a chance.
8. by Eugene, 15 November 2006, 06:22
People know fully well that when they purchase something that it has an expiration date, and if they don't then it's their own problem.
This has nothing to do with privacy, so don't parade around like you are the victims of something.
AllofMp3 is another example of the Internet run amok. Taking the intellectual property of others, and transfering it to millions of people without reimbursing them is a crime. If you disagree then you are obviously a moron.
9. by Ken, 15 November 2006, 06:43
AllOfMP3 is trying to promote its own credibility through press conferences and online posts.
A credible company protects its customers and takes responsibility for its own business partners.
AllOfMP3 recommends payment via XRost and Click&Buy.
But many customers who try this end up receiving 40 porn emails, every day, forever onward.
Ultimately this problem comes from trying to be a AllOfMP3 customer.
If AllOfMP3 is a credible company, it will deal with this problem on behalf of its customers, not blame them or blame someone else.
10. by Eugene, 15 November 2006, 07:00
Never mind what I just said. I'm a moron myself. I just took my medication and I'm good now. Download away!!
11. by GreGorGy, 15 November 2006, 09:23
So that's where my porn email suddenly started from. Who is it? CnB or X? When the labels correct the archaic distribution rights in South Africa, maybe I will buy from them again. Until then, they can all go to hell - AllOfMp3 has saved my music collection from the near-exctinction caused by corporate greed and big-name short-sightedness.
12. by Edward, 15 November 2006, 12:13
So did you create blog? well done. but remember! this site is still illegal. no other music studios agree you to do distribute tons of music without contract or permission. So I SAY SHUT DOWN PLEASE before tkaing an action.
13. by Brenda, 15 November 2006, 14:27
Music helps me through my day, it's important. Affordable music doesn't come from greedy corporations. Without this site, I would not have been able to explore artists which would have been too expensive to 'try out'. I could not have been able to appreciate the music of other cultures so easily, or even my own. The music corporations are taking things too far, it's not just music, it's a part of life, and they shouldn't be allowed to dictate how much, where and when. Besides, isn't this site doing what they're doing anyway, but better?
14. by TuneMan, 15 November 2006, 15:29
I have a huge music collection (700+), almost entirely of CD's, purchased over the last 20 years of my life having started in college.....MAYBE 50 of them were purchased full price at a retail store. Becaue I am on a tight budget, almost all of them have come from used music stores, flea markets, or other secondary sources which the music industry does not profit from in any way. I have traded copies of CD's with my 2 best friends over this entire period of time as well, as the 3 of us don't have the kind of money it takes to feed our audio addictions. Only in the last 3 months have I ventured online to Allofmp3 at one of these friends' recommendations, because I had long feared piracy charges after the Napster mess should I get into it (which I knew I would, as I am voracious when it comes to collecting music). I had stayed away due to issues with DRM (privacy issues, restriction of use, no versatility, etc..), lack of quality (I prefer lossless or 320kbs minimum), and a much too high price. A dollar a song? Who wants to pay that? I find myself thoroughly pleased with Allofmp3 from top to bottom, especially with the ability to customize the codec and the price is fairly based upon how much server time I use up getting my copy. If I want the cheap version and don't care about high quality, I can pay less. If I have a high-end stereo at home and in the car, I can pay more for lossless to get that full feel and sound. The way it is arranged is entirely sensible. And I am spending more money on downloads now than I ever would on new CD's in a calendar year. So, HEY MUSIC INDUSTRY....WAKE UP!!!!!! You can make money doing it just like Allofmp3, or better yet....work WITH them so you don't have to invest in any infrastructure, saving yourselves even more money. The idiocy of human beings amazes me sometimes, but it never fails to be present.

Thank you for your correspondence. Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your message.
Visa can confirm that Visa members are not permitted to process Visa transactions for allofmp3.com, a Russian website which sells electronic content. The action Visa has taken is in line with legislation passed in Russia and with basic international copyright and intellectual property norms.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Visa.ca Webmaster
_________
Thank you for your reply. May I ask for further particulars with regard to the fact that the web-based company in question at www.allofmp3.com was summarily cleared in connection with alleged copyright and intellectual property infringement of all wrongdoing last year in the Russian courts? Any current court procedures are pending, therefore the statement "The action Visa has taken is in line with legislation passed in Russia and with basic international copyright and intellectual property norms" would appear to be contradictory.
The company concerned continues to carry on business otherwise with clients, partners and other credit card companies, but those of us who use VISA as our preferred card are highly inconvenienced. Please note that no court decision has been laid down in Canada or elsewhere which would establish the illegality of allofMP3's operations (which would be inappropriate otherwise as the seat of operations for the company is in Russia and cases are customarily tried in such national venues).
As noted below, it is one thing if the company in question is legally and officially ascertained to be acting in contravention of the law, but at this time allofMP3 continues to function in what appears to be full compliance with local legislation and related regulations.
On this basis, could you kindly provide further information on this decision, and if there is any likelihood it may be reversed?

17. by wjc, 15 November 2006, 18:03
If Sony really gave a damn about people pirating music they would stop selling CD and DVD writers. The big companies don't and are just greedy money grabbing corporations that are struggling to hold on to the music market despite the fact that they make 1000% profit on every CD and most musicians barely see any of it.
18. by Magical Trev, 15 November 2006, 19:02
The music industry is full of dinosaurs who have been on their perch for far too long - they haven't got an innovative or creative braincell between them. Instead of competition through producing better, easier to use products, they prefer to compete through litigation. They are too short-sighted to see that cutting profit margins in the short run will increase profits in the long. Before the internet and innovating pioneers like allofmp3 people didn't have any choice but to pay whatever the music bosses wanted you to pay, now there is a choice and don't know how to deal with it.
Sure there is a question about the legality and distribution of funds to the artists, but sites such as this and the massive upspringing of inidie labels and produciton houses only serve to expose how archane the old music biz system is. The music bosses cry 'you are robbing the artists', but in truth the only people robbed are the fat cats who refuse to change.
The simple truth is: ppl would rather spend $20 on 20 albums than $20 on 20 songs. I know where my money is going....
19. by T'man, 15 November 2006, 21:41
Having worked in the cd and dvd duplication business for many years I feel obligated to inform anyone who doesn't know that a complete run of 100,000+ CDs, art, printing, and packaging costs less than $0.20 each. Needless to say paying $1.00 per song is totally out of line if I don't own it forever once I have paid for it!!! $1.00 per song equals or exceeds the cost of most new albums with an average number of tracks. Due to the inferior product being turned out most $12 to $15 releases seldom have more than 3 quality tracks. Perhaps like the auto industries the music companies need to concern themselves with customer service and satisfaction. DRM is equivalent to coming to my house and taking back all of the 1200+ CDs I have legally purchased that I have listened to more then 7 times or owned for too long or better still I have moved since I bought them. ABSURD!! What they fail to recognize is that they are pricing themselves out of business. They are the cause of the piracy they are trying so hard to prevent. Even after paying the music service company out of the $1 per song charge the industry still makes more per song than they ever could selling the CD, due to more sales volume and next to zero overhead.
When you take things away from the masses they will find a way to get what they need!!!!!
Evidenced by the hundreds of applications to strip DRM, record streaming content, file share, burn direct from satellite radio and tv or even FM radio.
The real truth is support indie labels and new artists that offer their own downloads by spending your money with them and remember who really has been robbing the artists for the last 100 years, the music industry!

I too echo the sentiments of some of the above posters. I have purchased much more music, taken gambles on things I normally wouldn't have purchased and believe allofmp3 has found the perfect price/system for downloading music.
I find it completely unacceptable that I am only allowed to acces one country's itunes and cannot purchase music I hear while traveling. The industry needs to embrace what allofmp3 is doing.
A few recommendations: could allofmp3 encode the songs to load correctly into itunes? I am constantly having to change title names AND add artwork. I don't mind the extra work, but it woudl be nice if the song titles would be correct.
23. by Tappin, 16 November 2006, 00:09
Ever heard of George Orwell, 1984 and all that? Well he was out by a few years but ...
The issues referred to above are symptomatic of the way society is developing in the western world. A few people controlling the masses. We complained about communist repression and the lack of freedom which was imposed on the masses by a few people at the top.
So what is happening in the US and Europe? Everything that is related to moneymaking is being centralised and controlled. Do we have any freedom? The propaganda that we are subjected to tells us that we live in free countries. iTunes has already stolen music from me - I paid them for it but made a mistake when I had to transfer it to another newer PC so they deleted it from my iPod the next time I logged on.
Yes, I guess you can expect the 'Music man' to come into your bedroom at any time to audit your music collection. So who else can come in uninvited? Aaaah, the political Correctness Officer to check on whether or not you are conforming to the state authorised thought-bank.
On that note i will go and listen to another record. Oh no its just been taken away for an Electronic DNA test to check whether or not I'm the legal owner!
Keep smiling.

In answer to an earlier post, I topped up my balance on all of Mp3 two days ago by signing up to Xrost and using my debit card. Its a bit tricky, but I had no problems.
As far as receiving spam or porn is concerned, there has been no noticeable difference.
One other thing - I know that one of the complaints that the music labels have with all of Mp3 is that selling so cheaply royalties are far less.
As the rates for music are so low here, I have tried and downloaded much more of it. If this is the case with everybody, it is more likely that far more royalties will be generated that normally would be - the exact reverse of what the music giants are saying.
Maybe they should take some heed of exactly what is happening here, instead of trying to stamp on it.

I would like to be able to download affordable music videos. Will Allofmp3 branch out a little?
27. by Paul, 16 November 2006, 04:09
I use to buy albums in the 70's, my collection once reached a thousand. I used to buy cassettes, I had hundreds at one point. Then I started CD's and eventually reached 500. When Kazaa became popular, I had downloaded 1000 full albums. I discovered COUNTLESS artists that I never even knew about it. It opened the door for me because basically I was STUCK in the 70's and early 80's. I found out how much good music there really was if you could wade through all the bull****. I then started buying CDs from the MANY artists that I had discovered. The record industry got a lot more business from me. Then I started using AllOfMP3 to purchase music that was HARD TO FIND, out of print, or only available through import. Having the ability to preview and listen to endless artists from downloading and AllOfMp3 continued to allow me to hear artists, CD's, and songs I would have never even considered buying. How can I fork out $15-$20 for an artist or album I have no idea I will even like. But now when I find a favorite artist or CD, I go and buy it. I may have 9 others I listened to once or twice, and if I downloaded it or paid only $2 for it, then no big deal. I dont feel I was burned buying a CD for a fortune I'll never listen to again. So the experience of digital music, downloading, listining to an unlimited amount of music, and purchasing from AllOfmp3 has caused me to buy a couple hundred extra CDs. In most cases, broad exposure HELPS the artists CD sales (it doesnt hurt them). The reason for declining CD sales is the outrageous price for a single CD, the lack of good artists and material being made (not downloading or sites like these).

In response to VISAs decision to stop their customers refilling their balance on this website:
VISA are basically denying their customers freedom of purchase. If i had my way i would dump my VISA card and use another credit card instead, but unfortuneately my bank charges outrageous fees for other credit cards.
Who are VISA to dictate to us the customers how we should spend our hard earned credit???
Whatever happened to freedom of purchase?? How come if i wanted to i could buy porn with my VISA card and with no problems?? This is a joke.
AllofMp3 are giving us the consumer exactly what we demand, cry out for: cheap low cost music with no bullshit attached. Far too long have we been at the mercy of the Greedy Bastards, namely the record companies.
If they were using some of their monstorous profits to help third world countries or help cure aids or cancer, then i would support them. But why support a shower of greedy, corrupt, immoral bastards????
Let us, the consumers revolt against the greedy record companies!

My last refill was through Click and Buy for Xrost. My email has been swamped with porn spam ever since. It started immediately afterwards. If allofmp3 wants to keep its customers, they better make sure their partners don't make life miserable for their customers. I won't refill until this is adressed or some other method (paypal?) is put in place.
30. by Laurie, 16 November 2006, 06:04
Having used allofmp3 for more than two years, I believe they are providing the best service around. Paying by paypal was easy, the selection of download options is the best there is and I think paying for the size of the file makes perfect sense. I agree with all the other posters; my music interests have increased exponentially since using the service.
I do not share, trade or give away any music I have purchased here. If they brought back the paypal option, all of my friends would buy here. As it is, I don't know what I'll do when my balance runs out. I won't be using the Xrost option, that's for sure. I do believe that it is allofmp3s responsibility to find a reputable 3rd party to handle these transactions. It's not much to ask, is it?
Visa is covering themselves against potential litigation, as I am sure paypal is, but it doesn't make it right.
I'll miss you guys when my balance runs out...

Like many of the people using allofmp3, I have a huge legit cd and record collection, I can categorally state i will never go back to buying cd's at ripofff prices. If allofmp3 shuts done for whatever stupid reason, i will beg or borrow cd's and burn them.
Allofmp3 should be used as the model for all music download sites, not only is it user friendly, it also offer's differnt file format at the correct price for a digital download.

Simple question - simple answer, please.

The XROST option for refilling a balance appears to have been removed. Yet, this site continues to state in other locations that XROST is still a viable payment option. What is the deal? The only options showing under payment are credit cards and gift certificates. Of course, the credit payment option does not work either.

53. by chbster, 17 November 2006, 13:26
guys ever thought about having a junkemail address in addition to your own?
Solves the spam problem. And beside the spam xrost functions really great.
54. by amc, 17 November 2006, 22:41
I have refilled my allofmp3 balance several times using XROST Click&Buy service and had no problems whatsoever, including spam email.
To refill using XROST first get a card from XROST Cick&Buy. When you buy the card you get a PIN code (something like 12345678-12345678) and a claim ID. You can check these codes later if you login into your XROST account and view the Order details (click "Order" on the menu).
With these codes login into your allofmp3 account, click "Balance", select "Activate XROST card" and input the PIN and code ID. That's it.
55. by ab, 17 November 2006, 22:52
amc - when I login into allofmp3 and click on "Balance", I don't see the option "Activate XROST card". Do you see it? Then only ones that are there are "Refill balance" and "Purchase gift certificate". XROST is nowhere to be found

63. by Darrian, 18 November 2006, 06:28
Really, I don't care if the site is technically legal or not. I buy here because it allows me to choose my music in any format I desire (ogg) at any bitrate and it is drm-free. All online music providers should be this way. Microsoft is too concerned about promoting it's own crappy codec to give its users choices, and Apple only provides in the format the sheep use. Both have DRM. There really aren't any other competitors. Until somebody else comes along that offers me the amount of choices AllOfMP3 has to offer I doubt I'll buy music elsewhere, legal or not, regardless of the price, except of course CDs, which I can rip to the format of my choice.

One more time.
Just use a junkmail email address, you only for singups, then you will be totally fine with Xrost.

I would have no issues if allofmp3 were willing to pay say £1.00 for every album sold to the artist in royalties, even if it meant a slight price rise. ITUNES rips us off selling inferior quality tracks and high prices. Here i can get great tunes, great prices and great quality, well done, at least one website who wants to keep it's customers by giving them what they want!

Is this site dead? I cannot access music I have purchased; I get a server too busy error. Are we seeing the end of allofmp3.com?
Anybody?

On a serious note i feel that i must offer assistance with regard to itunes users (i am a user myself). The downloaded file is indeed a DRM'd AAC file with the proprietry file name of m4p.Apart from making a cd of this file within itunes and then converting to mp3 it is also possible to convert it to an mp3 by using a superb little programme called Tunebite.Check it out, it does cost $20 i think but it's worth it. It re-records the file real time (or faster) and re-encodes it-subject to your settings for bit rate.i suggest a setting of 320 as the AAC file is 128 thus preserving most (not all ) of the original quality. This is great for non sheep.Correction non i-pod users.Like myself. It supports DRM'd WMA also. There is now a video version too.Check it out people........Oh, it's legal too...It' not Russian tho'........lmaooooo

Like many have already said I've downloaded masses of stuff I wouldn't have bought otherwise. If this excellent site closed down I would never, ever buy a hard copy CD again out of principle. Market forces and the consumer should, and will prevail. I use Mastercard with no problems so far. Also, once tracks have downloaded into a folder, they open in iTunes with no problems at all. iTunes even imports the artwork. I must be doing someting right.............
73. by Canadian Girl, 18 November 2006, 19:39
I should try to keep up with what's going on more. What I know is this: I cannot share my music purchased at iTunes with anyone. This bothers me. Someone above pointed out that some of these big corporations make hardware which allows you to record and distribute copyright material. Why, then, would they make it difficult to obtain these materials for recording and distributing? I have a massive digital music collection. It looks somewhat like the vinyl album collection I had when I was a young adult only easier to store. I adore my music and cannot afford the costs of CD's (which I later have to figure out where to store after I've ripped it onto my computer and subsequently, my iPod). I also don't appreciate paying $1 per song and being restricted as to where and when I can listen to it. I feel for the artists. I grew up with some of these artists. I spent years in the industry, but when a song should cost about 20 cents and it winds up 5 times more, how can that all be royalties? It can't be. I'm willing to pay for my music, but I am not willing to be knowingly ripped off just to listen to music. It's not like I can make it myself. I'm just not that talented. There must be a solution.
Incidentally, I've used Xrost in the past and had no problems. Used to be able to do it with PayPal and can't anymore so I switched to paying by credit right through the allofmp3.com site. Seems I can use my Mastercard only, which is fine for me. There seems to be a million great ways to pay for this service. I'm actually pleased.

I wondered where the hell all of those flying fannies were coming from everytime I opened up my mail box?
I'm a huge fan of Allofmp3.com and recommend it to anyone that will listen. My only gripes are that lack of visa payments, (as most people in the uk only use visa and not mastercard) the strange links that when you import to itunes you have to manually put in the artist, album and catergory, the really BAD lack of communication from the tech department and customer services and when you download a tune and lose it, you have to buy it again (hey thats a minor grudge and I'm not going to bitch over it) But thanks to Allofmp3, I'm able to explore other avenues of music that I might of never heard about.
PS are you guys closing down or what?
76. by Mike, 19 November 2006, 02:51
Like many of you I am very happy with ALLOFMP3.COM, and think it is a model by which american music companys ought to conduct themselves. I would imaging that any record company could do just that, break away from the pack and get real with pricing and get away from the DRM. If they are reading this..I am talking to you! This b.s. of paying a dollar to download a sub-standard mp3 is not going to fly, nor is making me wonder how many times I can use it or listen to it, or tranfer it from one computer of mine to another. We have to keep sticking it to them, because perhaps they are running out of steam and ready to deal. As far as the artists go, I do feel for them/you, but there is a revolution going on and you are caught in the middle, you could do your share by promoting more competitive sales. If the pricing were competitive, the laws and morality would be obeyed more, people do have a conscience. And just because this may be immoral, so is what they do, who said they should become millionaires for singing a song, and I have to contribute to that why? And let's not forget the consumer, we should be able to excersise personal use with the music as we like, we did buy it! See that's what's wrong with this situation, the music industry has forgot who really owns the music....the person who paid for it. If this were a Sony site and the pricing and options were similiar, I would buy from Sony. But since the music industry will not be competitive, I won't buy from them now or in the future, even if they suceed in stopping this source, so how is that hurting their sales? They are hurting themselves, and their own customers.

I have a job, I sometimes have very good days at work. I wish I could digitally record those days at work and send it out every morning to instead of having to get up and do it all over again. Over the last 50 years or so musicians and their associated hangers on have found a way of recording their good moments and, as commodities, sold them over and over again as the royalties roll in. Keep music live, give your recorded sounds away (or at least at a reasonable price) and use them to spread your name. Then, as most people in the world have to do, go and play live and work for a living instead of living off your recorded highlights. You can (if you are good at your job) still make a very handsome living and you well get he chance to hone your talents and even meet people.

I understand that people love the cheap prices of AllofMP3.com and the fact that the files are DRM free, but as a working musician myself I have to ask those who say things like "Fuck the music industry, steal shit!", how they think musicians are supposed to earn a living to continue making the music you enjoy for free?
81. by edward, 19 November 2006, 19:10
seriously you can't really buy such a cheaper music in other site or place. the price here is ridiculously lower. it's impossible. but it's possible here. why? they are not authorized, and contiune to distribute music illegal way.

For people in the USA, the RIAA's arguments remind us of the ones that the Republicans use, anytime anyone talks of raising the minimum wage. Blah, blah, blah, "And then the poor struggling small-business owner will have to go bankrupt and close his doors. So instead of getting more money, all his workers will get nothing. So you see, it's better for the workers if we pay them an awful minimum wage, than raise the minimum wage."
The RIAA uses the same "we're protecting the poor people" argument: there are poor, struggling musicians who need every penny in royalties they can get, and AllOfMP3 is "cheating" these musicians unless AllOfMP3 pays the RIAA's every demanded fee.
Nonsense. We all know that such money would go to RIAA executives in thousand-dollar suits, and go to Madonna (who doesn't need it). If AllOfMP3 were to put a pallet of gold bars on an Aeroflot airplane and had those gold bars delivered to RIAA headquarters, the "poor, struggling musicians" would be lucky to each get half a dollar. (What would happen instead is that a lot of RIAA executives, or their wives, would start wearing lots of gold jewelry.)
Finally, let me say that I consider AllOfMp3 to be an example of capitalism at its best: innovative and customer-oriented. Many American businesses would do well to study AllOfMP3 and how it works. You gotta appreciate the irony of all that, _tovarich_.

For all those having trouble using the x-frost PIN see message #62 above.
The address given in message #62 will take you to the correct page to enter your PIN number to activate it.
You cannot enter the PIN in the all tunes web page because it will say not a ative PIN number or already used. You must enter PIN and claim number for x-frost for it to work.
As of sunday 11-19-06 it is working but I wouldn't have found the place to enter and activate balance refill without message #62 address above.
Thanks

Aren’t we all so sick of record companies and their knee-jerk rhetoric "but what about the artists". When entire T.V shows are dedicated to the greed, wealth and bling of the poodle-grooming-Hummer-driving-Cristal-pissing swagger of well-marketed pop retards, I say fuck the artists.
Music is one of the great joys of life. It can be made and distributed at a fraction of the current price – if we cut out the greed. Most working bands and songwriters seek only a voice. For most the illusive paycheck is something that might come after some semblance of credibility has been established. The idea that any Ricky Martin with a one hit wonder and a good copyright lawyer can create enough wealth to ensure that twenty generations of his family need never work is way beyond reason.
Having (re)discovered some amazing talent on this site, at a fair price, I really can’t imagine ever walking into my local music store and paying the “going rate”. If more schlock record company artists land up in welfare queues (along with their bosses) then we can all consider our work here done.
93. by Craig, 20 November 2006, 16:52
I'm a little concerned that I have recently read a few news site saying that the Record Companies are currently trying to take you to court as this site in the eyes of there own laws is illegal and that they are in the process of trying to shut you down as well as target the people who use it as we have to provide credit / debit card details as well as personal details to you to join your site.
I would like to know if this is true and what is the company doing to protect the information it has on its customers from failing into the wrong hands.
94. by whiwo, 20 November 2006, 22:05
okay, this is driving me crazy. i purchased another useless pin. I'm guessing the pin # begins with IN-xxxxxxxxx-x which is the invoice number, but what is the claim ID? I have a eight digit transaction #, an order # xxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx. I've tried all possible combinations and nothing works. Can someone please explain how to use the information that C&B sent on my invoice. Nothing makes sense.
95. by whiwo, 22 November 2006, 03:03
yes, i used click and buy and i have all the details. However, there is nothing indicating what is the pin or claim id # on the statement. when i used to purchase using my debit card, the pin was just something like IN-xxxxxx-xx or AT-xxxxxx-xx etc. Now, using xrost (click and buy) I can only assume the pin is the IN # (which is the invoice) but I don't have anything called a claim ID just a transaction number.

If you're worried about using xrost as a payment method, buy yourself an early christmas present in the form of an allofmp3.com gift certificate using your mastercard. Navigate:
home page > balance > purchase gift certificate > add money by credit card etc etc. this seems to use a different payment system (I've just used it... forgotten already which it was... e-coli or some such). I used my mastercard on that and it worked a treat. I couldn't see an option for visa, but that may be because my registered card is mastercard... not sure. Good luck guys and long live allofmp3.com

I just reloaded my balance to $100 via XROST last night and beginning this morning, I've been unable to add tracks to my basket. I was ble to download what I previously had added to my basket, though. I've submitted two requests to customer support asking when they'd be back up and received no response.
Could this be the end of Allofmp3? Hope not. If so, I hope I get my prepay back.

I can find no way to pay. I bought a Xrost pin with Click-N-Pay, but there's no way to use it. All-pf-MP3 claims to take XRost, but I can't find that option. I've followed procedures described on this blog, to no avail.

!!! XROST/CLICK AND BUY USERS BEWARE !!!
I'm in the US and purchased a pin code via Xrost/Click and Buy on 12/9. Luckily, I'm diligent about double-checking purchases on my credit card statement because the statement came through with a double charge from Click and Buy. At first, I thought it was the normal "hold" some vendors place on your account until the transaction goes through. However, almost two weeks later the double charge was still there.
It was near impossible trying to get through to Click and Buy's customer service department via phone. When I finally got through, the rep could barely speak English (they are located in Belize w/a NY office) which made it extremely difficult to explain the situation. Bottom line: they would not refund the money saying there was only ONE charge showing on their end.
I wound up fighting the charge through my credit card company and I'm still waiting to hear back from them. However, with the American government taking action against this site and bullying the major credit card companies, I'm worried there's very little I can do about this fraudulent transaction. It's almost like "buy at your own risk." If these foreign companies have corrupt intentions, they can take full advantage of our situation.
Please be sure to check your credit card statements and make sure you are not being double-charged!!
With that said, I really love allofmp3 and it bums me out that I will have to wait until they offer more reputable (safer) forms of payment.
P.S. Someone wrote on another board that it results from clicking the "buy" button twice. I am a very experienced online buyer and know you never, EVER do that.
111. by Eric, 26 January 2007, 23:59
Umm, I just bought a xfrost $20 card and received NO PIN OR CLAIM number. I would advise others to be very careful. I've used Xfrost through Clickandbuy before with no problems but now something is up.
Even when I go to look at the history of my purchases it shows NO PIN OR CLAIM number. Looks like I'm out $20 dollars because xfrost has no customer service at all.
112. by Eric, 30 January 2007, 06:23
Ya know I have to give Xfrost credit. It seems an apology is due. It looks like they were having technical difficulty. I sent an e-mail to customer service and they promptly replied. They told me all was fixed and that I should now see my Pin and Claim # at my account. I tried using those numbers but there was something wrong and Allofmp3 said that the Pin and Claim # had already been used. Frustrated. I e-mailed customer service back and they replied today apologizing for the problem. And to show me that they were indeed sorry they also gave me an extra $10 iCard. Thanks Xfrost for fixing this!

alright guys, just wondering if anyone knows how to add money onto allofmp3.com? i have been using Xrost a few times (last time early December) but i can no longer find the link on this site, and on the xrost site it says its temporarily down.
any ideas?
thanks for any help
117. by Richard, 6 February 2007, 23:28
Does anybody know where xfrost is based? is it a Russian site? I think it must be temporary fault as it serves other site apart from this site.
118. by Frank, 17 February 2007, 17:40
I think Xrost are a subsidiary of Mastercard - I also think they have been vlocked from receiving payments from Visa as well so will not deal with allofmp3 customers as they will not get paid.
Can anyone understand chinese if so go to baidu.com they sell tracks cheaper than allofmp3 averiage is (12cents each) but are not looked upon as illegal by america.
Sadly I cant read it so cant use it
they gotta get this site allofmp3 back on asap
bit of double standards here I thinkf
