HA! Allofmp3 has already started shutting down access to those in the united states. I've seen comments in other parts of the site where they said they aren't able to order anything (they get an error claiming scheduled maintenance) despite having an outstanding balance. It looks like many americans will lose out not only on a great site but the money they prepaid as well.
2. by TC, 1 December 2006, 23:09
This sucks... If you are not going to sell any more songs to the US then just say so. I like the site and it was just time before it was stopped. Thanks for the good times...
3. by LA, 1 December 2006, 23:23
I just went through all the press releases and I still am not sure what it means. I am in NY and while I did get a message of sheduled maintenance, I just tried the next day and had no problem.
So is this just a bump in the ride, or is it a definate, and is there also a date that it will happen? I have a balance I would like to use first.
I was just in the progress of recommending the site to friends that are getting Ipods for Christmas. Guess, I will hold off on that, for now.
4. by T, 1 December 2006, 23:39
I hope it's just a bump in the ride but I suspect it's the beginning of the end. The fact is, even though this site is legal in Russia, when it enters into the u.s. it enters the jurisdiction of the u.s. The best compaison I can make is cuban cigars. It's legal to sell them in cuba but not in the u.s. The product is the same but the jurisdiction is not. It may be a loose comparison but hopefully the point is made.

test comment? are unsuitable comments being removeD?
6. by Humberto, 2 December 2006, 01:36
whats the difference between the videos and the music. Videos we have to go to store and pick them up, copy, then return. Do they pay special price to do the business they do??? NO NO NO and that includes the famous FBI seal that is against the law, THATS WHAT THEY DO.
7. by frank v, 2 December 2006, 01:36
Good luck in your battle against the money-grubbers who do not believe in free enterprise.

I, for one, think AllofMP3's business model is the model every internet music service should be using. When we download music we are not getting many of the things we would if we bought the actual CD (ie artwork, liner notes, etc.). On top of that we are not usually getting the music at the same quality as a CD. I, personally, think the record companies should discount for these facts....but instead we are asked to pay 99 cents a song. This is the same rate as buying the CD (in most cases) yet we're getting less of the "product".
AllofMP3's service prices the product they way it should be. If you want the same CD quality download...you pay about the same price as you would for the CD. But if you're satisfied with lower bit rates you receive a discount for that because you are getting less of the original product. Seems fair to me.
We are being ripped off by the record companies and internet music providers. We as consumers (who live and breath music) need to be more proactive. We need to make our feelings known to our elected representatives in government and let them know how we feel. AllofMP3 is a fair business model....all the other "legal" internet service providers are not. We don't have a problem paying for our music if that price is fair.
Good luck AllofMP3!!!

You know, I really want to see capitalism flourish in Russia. As an American who has traveled to at least one SSR I think that there are more similarities than differences between our cultures. As such I will leave my money that has not yet bought songs to contribute in a very small way to the fight AllOfMP3.com has to fight. I was so glad to see exactly the model of service I expected to be possible from the Internet and gladly have used this service for the last couple of months. I hope that the situation resolves itself in favor of this site. Its run responsibly and should not be shut down in my opinion.
13. by Delwyn, 2 December 2006, 03:21
Personally, I like your style. I get what I pay for, from a site that lets me do what I want with the music and store it and play it on what ever I like. I only have one pair of ears, so what's the problem? The music industry hosts some of the richest people on the planet. Nice for a change for us to be able to get their music at a reaonsable price.
Other sites who charge a subscription, or who put such restrictive controls on how I play the music, or who charge far more in one country that another (eg iTunesin the US and UK)should learn from you, and try an put you out of business by undercutting. In any case, most people use iTunes - so what's the problem.
I bet that even at your prices a living's to be made, but maybe not by so many middle men.
May you flourish and prosper!
14. by Johnny DeVille, 2 December 2006, 03:26
Ain't this great. I just paid through Xrost because Visa decided to play God and now the site has been effectivly shut down. No one even cares about poor guys like us when we get our balance ripped off. I guess I'll just fall back on Limewire.com until they get rolled over like everyone else who sells music for what it's really worth. It's a little harder to to shut down peer to peer.
15. by ConCatto, 2 December 2006, 03:44
AllOfMP3 is the only reason why I owned an iPod. Many of the songs I downloaded from this site are the ones I already owned many moons ago. Some of the songs I owned were on 45rpm, 33rpm phonographs, cassettes, 8-tracks, reel-to-reel, and CDs, which are now damaged or lost. I am so happy that I found AllOfMP3, which give me a chance to rebuilt my lost collections at a reasonable cost…Hope you will win the legal battle. Good luck to you AllOfMP3 and may the force be with you.
16. by Reclinerhead, 2 December 2006, 04:06
Being able to refill my balance again using Xrost makes me very happy! Keep fighting the good fight, AllofMP3!
The RIAA should suck it up already, join us in the 21st century, and invest in AllofMP3's technology.

19. by anonymous, 2 December 2006, 04:59
AllofMP3 is still accessable in the US (yea)! I was late in using the service, but I've come to love it in a very short time. It's the perfect place for me to get digital copies of all my LP's I have in my closet that never got replaced by CD. (I just want to listen to music I already own, do you hear me RIAA). I haven't logged on since a few weeks before the news came out, but I'm happy that Iv'e seen no disruption of service (good job AllofMP3), I just wish I could refill my balance. As soon as that's possible, I will, I just hope it's sooner rather than later.
20. by rattitude, 2 December 2006, 06:01
I have fallen victim to the "site down for service" messages when trying to add items to my cart for the last few days. I guess the fun is over. I would appreciate an honest message, rather than this misleading one, however.
In my humble opinion, the RIAA can kiss my big fat hairy butt. So many people, myslef included, are not willing to pay $1 per song because it's completely rediculous. Pigs! I don't know what percentage of that money an artist sees but, regardless, I believe that they'd see a lot more money in total if they subscribed to something rational like 10 cents per song. At 10 cents per song, would a consumer download 10 times as much music? I certainly do, easily. I think 50 times more downloading at this price is probably accurate. That means more money for the artist in the long run, and I certainly wouldn't want to see a musician struggle through life making, say, millions of dollars rather than the tens or hundreds of millions they so rightly deserve. That would be horrible.
At 10 cents a song, if they would just fall in line, everybody would be happy. I once lived for independent artists who are not filthy money grubbing pigs. I am now ready to go back to that.
Goodbye allofmp3, and thanks.
21. by Just another dude, 2 December 2006, 06:19
Funny thing is when i got introduced to allofmp3 i thought id be downloading all the popular artists how wrong i was . It's been an education coming onto your site and listening to artists id never heard of Blues/Rock and even Gospel thanks for the opportunity. Good Luck
22. by Otis Reelisux, 2 December 2006, 06:56
Well, how sad is this? I can't sit here on the eve of my weekend and download music (by purchasing it) because it is declared illegal in the United States. Seems that they are shutting sites down everywhere because of the threat of listening to sounds?????? Where's the sense in that? Especially when I can go to any of the 50 and buy drugs and guns. Talk about having screwed up priorities. Go DC!
Wishing ALLOFMP3.COM best of luck in the fight against the GREED & STUPIDITY in US.

Dear AllofMP3,
I love your site, your service, etc.
You all are fantastic.
I would really hate to see such a wonderful site get shutdown.
My hopes are with you.

I too have been having problems adding to my balance (even with an xrost card) or trying to add anything to my basket. Maybe I am naive, but I haven't given up all hope yet. I have read about allofmp3 getting overwhealmed with high traffic and not working properly whenever it's iminent demise has been threatened in the past. Maybe (I hope) that is what is happening now. This would explain why some of seem to be able to get in and some of us can't.
25. by anonymous in usa, 2 December 2006, 07:59
It's NOT OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS!!!!
Keep up the fight AllofMP3! You have millions of supporters in the fight from all over the world! Perhaps if you move to another planet (one which isn't interested in joining the WTO), "THEY" will leave "YOU" and "US" alone to enjoy "OUR" music!
P.S. How come I don't hear ANY of the US artists voicing their opposition to the business practices of AllofMP3?
26. by MJHII, 2 December 2006, 08:06
I used to buy up to 5 cd's a week at 10-20 dollars apiece. I got tired of getting ripped off by the artist that 1-3 good tracks per album. 20 dollars for an album with 1 good track is rediculous. Maybe the music industry needs to sell albums for what they are worth. Itunes and some of the other services make you pay about the same per album as you would spend at the store, but the quality of the songs suck. Thank you AllofMP3.com for offering fair pricing and the ability to choose the quality of the tracks being downloaded. I hope that you find a way to work through this.

This is the only music site I will ever use, not because it's cheap but because you are not forced apon to pay monthly AND your not having "pop" artists thrown in your face every 20 seconds....
I never knew there was so much music before in my life, I find myself listening to BETTER music these days due to this site.
Thank you AllOfMP3 for giving me the opportunity to listen to music that makes life worth living and not this crap that they mass manufacture these days. Good luck in the fight against ignorance and greed.
29. by Erik, 2 December 2006, 09:27
When it comes to selling digital music, Allofmp3 got it right. I can choose quality, format; The pricing is fair*, customer service give fast en helpful responses, the site is easy to navigate. Simply topgrade. If they get shutdown, because of this wto deal, I'm NEVER paying for music again.
*By keeping prices low, people consume more. I've spent more money buying music here, than I have in total otherwise.

33. by scottyc, 2 December 2006, 12:04
As others have said - this is the way ALL music should be sold over the internet. I have bought much more music than I would have on CD, also I've taken a punt on artists I might not have done if I'd had to pay full price - I'm finding new stuff all the time through this site.
I love you allofmp3!!!!!

desparately trying to refill balance. bought Xrost credits. How do I use them to top up my balance? Any thoughts?
35. by jeff, 2 December 2006, 12:43
for those who have problems using the site, USE THE ASSISTANCE LINK. I added $10 to my account after the big WTO news, and after 12 hrs it said that I added it, but my balance didn't show it, after using the assistance to inform them, i had the prob fixed, and have been able to download since, bought some more music today too, and I'm in the US, so quit your bitchen
36. by michael, 2 December 2006, 13:01
I protest against US and it's piracy policy. iTunes is much bigger pirate on world's arena than others, why is everything is allowed to them not to us. United States is a country of Third World, their government is everything that opposses democracy and freedom of speech.
American opressors still strive to conquer the world in order to sell yankie junk to us afterwards claiming to be freers of the world's evil.
The whole concept of IFPI RIAA US is piratic in it's scope and should be shut down or at least deterred for a while, we should raise our fists against this widespreading cholera.
37. by Intotheblue, 2 December 2006, 13:13
Definately the way music should be bought - without doubt i buy 10 times more music than i would at 79p a track-what a rip off!
Good luck Allofmp3!!!!!!!!

To refill your balance using Xrost, go to this link:
https://ssl.allofmp3.com/pays/payments.shtml?action=step2&via=xrost
I think Allofmp3 have given the record companies a wake up call.
Good luck Allofmp3!!!!

Allofmp3 offers: Huge selection of songs. Reasonably priced. No DRM means I can unload/load to my player as many times as I want. Pay more for better quality and vice versa. No fixed format. In other words exactly what the customer wants.
Or I could go to Itones: Pay £1 per song. Poor quality. Convert to a format to play on my player causing further loss of quality. Can only load/unload a few times. Exactly what I don't want!
Thanks AllofMP3
40. by Jen, 2 December 2006, 15:44
Thanks for the link.
What's the alternative? Buying from itunes at rip-off prices? Or downloading from peer-to-peer?
I've used this site to find new music that I wouldn't normally have heard of, and I've bought further albums from those artists.
41. by Mike, 2 December 2006, 15:49
Once again the RIAA aims at potential buyers and shoots itself. Has there ever been a collection of bigger boneheads in history? they keeps getting the perfect publicity and selling models dumped in their laps and then act like they've had a basket of cobras poured on their crotch. This group is infamous for having ripped off their own artists for years, they've screwed their own customers over (and over and over and over) -their biggest scam reselling us our LP collections on CD that for years sucked compared to the LPs but cost 3 or 4 dollars more for what? No professional studio musicians to pay, no publicity to pay for other than a press release. And now with Napster and Allofmp3 they again show their true allegiance (power and greed - it's got nothing to do with music that's for sure) by not even trying to investigate the reason these operations are so successful and popular, even though artists like Chucky D and Prince and many others were telling them from the start this is the future. But they don't want the future, and they don't want to come to the rescue of the poor artist getting ripped off -- well, in a sense they do - they want it the old way, where they did all the ripping. Basically, they want what will never be again. When music belonged to men in suits driving around LA in Benz's making millions a year doing jack. The morons keep winning little battles like this, but they've already lost the war - they've also alienated so many customers, I'm anxious to see who'll they'll blame next as CD sales keep dropping. Maybe they should look in the mirror sometime and not the hard drive of some 14 yr old girl.
Personally I' haven't knowingly bought an RIAA recording in a retail store since Napster went down; finding AllofMp3 was great. Like so many others have said on here already. You got it right. No automatic fees, but pay as you go; prices according to quality; no BS DR crap - you can do this with your song, you can't do that with the song, the song inactivates if you quit the club --and the one time I had to contact your customer relations department I had an answer and a fix in an hour. You were one class act from beginning to end.
If this truly is the end, it's a sad day for music lovers. The US (and the RIAA) have been in imperialistic we-tell-the-world-what-to-do mode for so long I think they think they own the world. Please Know we aren't all like that.
You guys were great, you provided me with some great great music at the fairest of prices, and I say thank you and good luck in the future. Hoping we all can do business with you again someday soon.
You guys ROCK!
Be seein' ya - hopefully.

I am saddened to here of the hard times you must be going through - I endevour to buy more music and then more credit to support you guys.
The music industry is mad. I have never spent any significant cash on music - the only discs I have bought have been with vouchers for birthdays or christmases.

Why AllofMP3 is the perfect music model:
1. Preview ENTIRE songs before buying.
2. Choose the songs format to buy it (mp3, aac, etc.)
3. No DRM so I can play anywhere.
4. Reasonable Price.
- take away any of these and it ruins it.
Record company execs: If you don't want to be owned by Apple I would suggest you learn from your Napster debacle and rather than kill ALLofMP3.com you should join forces. You are now forcing a huge, paying audience back to the P2P networks. History repeats itself.
I thank the folks from AllofMP3 for a fantastic music experience and keep up the good fight! It's not over yet!
45. by Marc-André L - Zurich, 2 December 2006, 17:32
All the money greedy bastards at "RIAA and Friends" are THE criminals. They want take control over the world and over everybody making good business. They want we humans only can life and make what these fuckers want... ALLOFMP3 must stay strong and punch fist hard in face of corrupt anal fucked up dope smoking RIAA guys and lawyers!
46. by Dave, 2 December 2006, 18:00
I hope you win the battle. The RIAA & BPI (the uk version) are basically dumb. They only want the likes of iTunes & Napster to succeed. Mainly because they get a kickback from them. I love this site, it has helped me find songs that I couldn't get from Napster or iTunes. It also offer what no other site do, a decent quality up 320kbps, not the standard awful 128. It also has a bigger advantage no DRM. the sooner the RIAA & BPI realise people want decent quality sounding music and no nasty DRM music in the tracks, then people may use them again. But until they do that and seriously drop the prices, they will stay in the dark ages.
47. by GitFinger, 2 December 2006, 18:23
Keep up the fight and I'll keep buying.
If you are in the UK and can't use your credit card go to ukash.com and buy a voucher. I went to my local post office and bought a voucher using Paypoint and then used that to buy an Xrost Icard. Real easy although you do have to get off your butt and go to the shop.
48. by babycute, 2 December 2006, 19:22

Why doesn't MP3 move to Aruba. Aruba does not care about copyright infringement, have several companies that violate it all the time. They are not about to get invited to join the WTO. Aruba is a nice place to live.
51. by massa, 2 December 2006, 20:44
it's ironic that the US doesn't complain about the unfair currency rate but this issue. For example, the aberrant price gap between US$ & Russian rouble makes the state that a CD in the states is about $15, but Russians' CDs are far less. However, when it comes to so-called copyright issues, they are out of control.
Don't give up, you guys can settle the corporate rights in minor countries to maintain this great customer-oriented service.

I wish you a long and successful future. Unfortunately, I don't share your trust and confidence to the law from governments all around the world anymore. If they decide to shut you down, they will regardless of what the law says. They've done it before and they continue to do it everywhere in the world. Democracy is dead and it's about time we took some action...
53. by greg, 2 December 2006, 22:00

I just added $60.00 with xrost and downloaded all of it just fine. I get about a 1 meg pipe, but it worked fine. I am about to add more and get some more music.
55. by Linda, 2 December 2006, 22:06
Heaven forbid someone give Americans an option to buy music without getting ripped off. For years the music industry has over charged for CDs and delivered a substandard product. I buy CDs too, but I'm sick of having to buy the same song over and over again, at a HUGE markup, as new media is released.
It would be nice if our representatives in Washington worried more about people than corporations.
You can't liken allofmp3 to buying cuban cigars. You can go down to your local record store and buy a CD from russia, or britian, etc. We're just buying imports, as far as I'm concerned.
56. by Mark, 2 December 2006, 22:33
This sucks... I just heard about this site recently, and I love it. But it looks like they are getting a hard time from our (US) a-hole government. I want to put some $$$ on my balance but keep getting an error message. Hope its not too late... :( As for the above comment, there is NO WAY our gov't will ever care more about us the people than the big corporations.... sad to say..
57. by paul, scotland, 2 December 2006, 22:40
this wto thing is bullshit
if these music industry bodies (BPI RIAA) believe allofmp3 to be ripping artists off then why not try claim back the money they believe is due? what is the sense in shutting down the most consumer friendly site on the net? why not try and work with allofmp3?
the reason is this; the industry has a set idea of how much music shoudl cost. here in uk it is £10 per cd. this is average price of cd album over last few years and that is what they want to maintain. but with a d'l you arent paying for a manufactured product, no artwork, case or cd or transport. so whay shoudl it cost you the same to d'l using YOUR connection onto YOUR pc? a while back in UK tesco were stopped from selling Levi jeans cheaply baecause it 'damaged the brand' this is the same thing
58. by Gabe, 2 December 2006, 22:59
If Allofmp3.com sold songs for $1 a song, I would still use this service. It has been far superior to any other service on the web, regardless of price. Why should music I buy online have DRM that I wouldn't have if I bought the album. Why should I pay similar prices to a CD when the quality is far worse, with no album cover or case?
Anyway, Allofmp3.com, if this is the beginning of the end, it's been real!
Thank for everything.
59. by Phil, 2 December 2006, 23:02
Just curious, is Canada effected by this new news?
60. by David, 2 December 2006, 23:12
The Cuban cigar analogy doesn't really work. A better analogy is online gambling. Offshore sites where it is legal to operate can set up shop as long as they have no servers or physical presence in the US. People are still debating the issue of whether US citizens accessing offshore gambling is illegal or not. Not one person has been arrested or fined because the laws are still not clear.
I see AllofMP3 being similar. As long as their operations are legal in Russia, it is not their responsibility to police who accesses their site. The law is clear about file sharing being illegal (illegal copy transferred to another person illegally and servers/peer computers residing in US under US jurisdiction). However, the law is not clear on purchasing music from a company that is operating LEGALLY in their jurisdiction and having no physical presence in the US.
I hope AllofMP3 continues the fight. Good luck.
61. by Big Mike, 2 December 2006, 23:54
What the hell! I'm in the USA its Sat afternoon (12/2/06) and I had no problem refilling my balance just a couple minutes ago. Its tricky to find the page but look above to POST #56 and past that address into your browser once you purchase a x-frost card. It was working at the time I did it and this is the 2nd refill I did in the past week.
62. by Balazs, 3 December 2006, 00:27
What I liked about AllOfMP3.com are the albums they probably rescued from vinyl. For instance, I was looking for my favourite album from Rick Wakeman titled "Lisztomania" for years. Since no record company seemed to care to make it into CD, I had no chance obtain it from elsewhere. I hope some free countries (Libia or China comes to my mind) will wake up some day and continue such rescue effort to save great music from the greed of record companies.
63. by AnAmericanIdiot, 3 December 2006, 01:38
This whole thing is a joke. The WTO needs to be going after the US Government. So what, only the US music industry can sell in the global market? As a US citizen, I can import works of art legally into my country. Not at the price of what the US markets sell it for, but at the cost of where I bought it. Why is this any different? Is music not a work of art? If not, then to call the people who make music "Artists" should be illegal, as it's misrepresentation!
To tell the World "you have to buy from US-approved markets and US rates and no one else" is a ridiculous. How many times has Microsoft taken it in the backside for unfair business practices? How many US senators have stood up against them? And now, US delegations to the WTO (with campaign fund donations by the RIAA and MPAA) are going off on a company in another country for selling the same product at a competitive price? They dont do this on Wall Street in the stock market!! So why is this any different?
US Senators & congress need to listen up. You dont work for the RIAA or the MPAA. You work for the people, and the people elect you into office. If you dont start listening to them, you're next job will be flipping hamburgers at mcdonalds for less than minimum wage. Then you too wont be able to afford to buy a music CD.

AllOfMF3 is an absolute model of how a music site should work - free preview, pricing based on quality of download. I am based in the UK and have never had any problems with the service - even after Visa withdrew its services I have been able to refill my balance via xrost (no increase in spam email either). Keep fighting!
65. by Soos, 3 December 2006, 03:21
All governments like "global" when it suits them.... it's fine for companies to outsource all our jobs to countries where they dont have to pay staff as much... but they dont want us to buy music that we can obtain cheaper in other countries. What is the difference????
66. by marty g, 3 December 2006, 03:44
I have been using your service for a year and I love it and would hate to see it go. I bought vinyl, I bought casssett, I bought CD. I think I have earned the right to a reasonable approach to music purchasing. It would be rude to say FU to the RIAA so I won't.
67. by Keith, 3 December 2006, 03:52
I've just refilled my AllofMP3 account balance by signing up to Xrost (http://www.xrost.biz/) and buying an iCard. I then went to https://ssl.allofmp3.com/pays/payments.shtml?action=step2&via=xrost and redeemed the iCard.
It works! AllofMP3 is still up and running, I can still add money and get music, the world is still a beautiful place. No thanks to the RIAA or the US Government.
68. by Trav, 3 December 2006, 04:27
Here in the uk the site is still working great! though we can now only refill with mastercard
69. by emmet fleming, 3 December 2006, 06:59
the site is workin fine for me, here in dubai, although we can only fill up with Visa. I got a visa card especially for this site, hope it is still here in year when my card is due for renewal!!!!
70. by Anonymous, 3 December 2006, 07:21
I love this site as much as everyone else does, but I have to pose a question for those in the United States: in your opinion, are we United States downloaders at risk of being targeted for legal action from RIAA and/or the US Government? Based on research I did on the WWW there does not at all appear to be a consensus on the legality of United States downloaders using this site, but the United States Government wrapping this issue up in WTO negotiations, as well as the Visa/Mastercard situation, tells me that the writing is on the wall. Do United States downloaders need to be worried about being sued?
71. by Bob, 3 December 2006, 07:44
Well - allofmp3 should still exist but it should be more expensive (I would say about twice as expensive). I don't really care about the record labels (they make most of their money from concerts anyway) but I've got to help the musicians.
72. by Bruce, 3 December 2006, 08:23
Not sure what everyone is complaining about. It is now saturday night and I live in the US and just downloaded 2 albums. Ran out of balance and was able to add more to my balance via my mastercard. Took all of about 30 seconds. No problems.
73. by Fred, 3 December 2006, 08:41
Question? I am in the US, but under my prefences I changed my country to Holland. Everything's legal in Holland :) So possibly that's a good way we in the US can still use the service without being infringed upon.
74. by Namor16, 3 December 2006, 09:13
Don't let them shut you down, I don't think Madonna or Jay-Z are starving because of your site. If they shut you down in Russia just host somewhere else.

is this why i can't add to my credit all of a sudden? it puts u thru chrono pay which says mastercard and visa are available, but only offers diners and JCB
76. by Trevor, 3 December 2006, 09:41
Mastercard works fine in Australia.
77. by Jason, 3 December 2006, 10:51
A friend of mine in the US uses Torpark (a derivative browser from Mozilla - u can download it free) to mask his site and the program uses many nodes worldwide to log in. He claims it is near inmpossible for anyone to tell where he is logging in from.

81. by Asian Fan, 3 December 2006, 19:39
I tried to refill my balance yesterday via Mastercard but I got an error message. I know Visa stopped honoring payments to this site but what's up? I hope your site gets through this mess created by the RIAA. good luck to all of us.
82. by Adam, 3 December 2006, 20:04
I've never used this site before and don't plan to.(I use bittorrent that riaa hates even more) But I do like it's approach to better quality higher price. And the no DRM crap everywhere else has. I live in the US. As a child I was proud to be a citizen of what I believed to be the greatest country in the land. Now as an adult. I am appaled by the US goverment wether it be federal state or local. If anyone were to open their history books they would see that this country was started because the people were tired of the british rule. And the whole taxation without representation thing. Now we are doing much worse to other countries. Why? Some people might ask. For the love of money. As the bible says (in any language) the love of money is the root of ALL evil. Like an earlier post stated RIAA=Evil. And I believe that to be true. Because all they care about is money. And not the singers/song writers money but their own and the labels money. So in conclusion screw riaa and keep on fighting the good fight.
83. by Fuck WTO, 3 December 2006, 22:56
Fuck WTO! WTO is an invention of badass u.s. lawyers office paid by RIAA moron. Russia and allofmp3 do not need WTO shit!

You are a fantactic site. Excellent that you have the option to change bitrates, and an excellent library.
Hope you live forever.

87. by Mikhail, 4 December 2006, 02:27
I'm a russian citizen living in US. I registred at this service while still being in Russia. And interesting - I still can download music, even using US IP's. And I can add money to my balance using american credit cards.
So dear american friends, stop crying. May be you can find somebody in Russia or use a russian proxy to register and download happily thereafter :-)
Good luck to allofmp3!
88. by Deuz, 4 December 2006, 02:39
It is incredible the levels of control that MNC (multinational corporations) have. The WTO is controlled by the US and their huge firms, such as Apple, Napster, Microsoft, Etc. These companies are the ones that push for small or medium enterprise like allofmp3 close, because it simply is not convenient for them. Why do we have to pay 0.99 to download one song? someone tell me what determines the price? anyway, I live in the US and I can not buy songs I guess the MNC have won. The website and the competitive prices were an excellent idea. I hope the world can benefit, US, Fucked up again!
89. by Mike, 4 December 2006, 03:53
I purchase from Allofmp3 regularly.... if I am no longer able to purchase from here, I will NEVER, EVER, EVER buy music again... I will find the most illegal ways I can, because I will not give one fuckin' penny to the RIAA, Universal, or any of the other places in the US that are greedy.... and not only that, I will tell all of my friends about other illegal ways to get it.... Allofmp3 is the only FAIR place to buy music. I've supported it for years....
The United States is nothing but crooked politicians...
Allofmp3, move to NORTH KOREA where they will NEVER EVER BOW to the WTO or the US.
90. by David from UK, 4 December 2006, 03:54

Hope its just a blip..

Ordering is back online in the US. Stop your complaining and take advantage of this site while you still can. And to all of you racist, xenophobic morons who continue to spam forums as soon as something goes awry, do us all a favor and put a sock in it.
Have a nice day.
92. by Mark, 4 December 2006, 04:16
Intellectual property is culture theft. Nobody should be allowed to "own" an idea or artistic work. Hooray for sites like allofmp3.
93. by David, 4 December 2006, 05:29
After having trouble with Mastercard to refill balance, allofmp3 promptly responed to my post on the assistance page and said credit cards currently are unavailable for payment. They recommended the XROST method which I just used and worked with ease. Everything about this site is easy and user friendly. I sincerely hope they don't go away.
94. by JB, 4 December 2006, 05:59
How about you just move your servers offshore somewhere like the Cayman Islands, Seychelles, etc? Surely you don't bank in Russia, so why not move all your operations to someplace warm and sunny, and save us from the lawyers. Good luck.

The U.S. is a democracy. I've heard from a lot of folks that they don't like what the government is doing about this. While voicing our opinions on this blog makes us feel better, it won't do anything to help the situation. If Americans really want to make a difference, then use the power our citizenship provides us. Write or call or email your Congressmen and Senators. I've done this and while I have been given the standard crap as a reply (we'll look into it... blah blah blah). I know that if they received more of these comments above, than maybe they will look into it. The reply discussed the leagality of AllofMP3. My reply was to have them provide me with a single U.S. court stating AllofMP3 was illegal. I'm still waiting for that reply.
97. by oh well, 4 December 2006, 08:06
1 - I will never pay $1/song on iTunes or whatever. Music today isn't worth it. I've spent lots of money here aver the last couple of years. The RIAA could have had some, but they got none because they are greedy!
2 - Move the servers offshore somewhere, move the pin code purchase to yet another country, and continue business as usual. :)
3 - I really think "Who is fucking who?" is on to something. I noticed as well, but just assumed that prices doubled and it was still a great deal.
3 -
98. by paysonbadboy, 4 December 2006, 09:17
I think I myself will log onto all of my visa/mastercard accounts and email them everyday on how I object to them preventing me from purchasing from allofmp3.com due to pressure from the terrorist RIAA yet they have no problem letting people purchase porn involving Humans having sex with animals or any other sick crap you find on the internet wanting CREDIT CARD PAYMENT!!!!
If we all do this on a daily basis, it should stir up some feathers!
Enough emails would be like the D.O.S. (denial of service) attacks people would plan in the early internet days. And it worked!
99. by gundoctor, 4 December 2006, 11:16
T, Cuban cigars are not only illegal to sell in the U.S., but illegal to own as well. This is because of the trade embargo the U.S. has against Cuba, not because of copyright laws. That's not a good comparison, even loosely.
100. by Workaround to spend your balance!!!, 4 December 2006, 13:32
Theres a workaround.
1. Find a Middle Eastern (possibly also Asian) proxy server off: http://www.publicproxyservers.com/page1.html
2. Configure your browser to use this for all protocols
3. Spend your balance ASAP - the site may not be on for much longer
101. by Pierre, 4 December 2006, 14:36
Please don't ever shut down! Move to another country that's not sucking the USA's 'free trade' balls.
I love you guys!
102. by Dan Poon, 4 December 2006, 15:19
Keep up the fight... we need you. £0.79 or £0.99 ($1.50-$2) to download a track in the UK really sucks, and I haven't bought music online for this reason, or even bought CDs for years because of the prohibitive cost... if all the tracks on an album were great then I couldn't have a problem, but usually there's 2 or 3 good ones and the rest are filler... what a waste of money.
I can see people going back to the old way of getting music, and recording it off the radio!!! Let them try and DRM that!
103. by SJ, 4 December 2006, 17:30
I've been getting "Ordering disabled" for the past 2 weeks. Can anyone in the US download? Any idea how long it usually lasts or when I can expect to order? A reply from Assistance said "soon" but when is that? I see lots of blogs of the site being down every month, going back for many months.
104. by Schnuffi, 4 December 2006, 17:39
I used allofmp3 mainly for downloading music, which I still own on Vinyls. It's more comfortable than to rip it with my MP3-Recorder track by track. I legally bought and paid for all of this music years ago and still own the vinyls. With every download I agreed to pay a second time(!) for the same pieces of music(!!), only becuase I wanted it in another data format. What should be illegal on doing that? You got all my money for the music yeards ago. Or do you want me to pay a third time for it? How stupid does the music industry believe their customers? Go to hell RIAA!
105. by CPeete, 4 December 2006, 17:44
Allofmp3 has been a great find. I've been using it since 2004 and as I look through my music files I have tons of music that I would not have come close to buying at full price. However, with allofmp3's doubling of their price I have been more choosey in my purchasing and have not been buying albums as willy-nilly.
Allofmp3 is the perfect model. I believe the prices they have now are about the perfect price even though I liked it better during REALLY cheap days. However, you have to give it to itunes they have used coolness to sell an awful product.
106. by CPeete, 4 December 2006, 17:46
BTW, I have not had any problems dowloading or reloading funds in the past month. I'm slap dab in the USA.
107. by Smarky, 4 December 2006, 18:05
Allofmp 3 go for it! They make an cheap and good online Platform. Everything else is political. Continues to fight for the online portal!
108. by Mick, 4 December 2006, 18:51
I think the site is fantastic. It gives you the music the way you want it encoded. And not like iTunes where you need to buy the iPod to use their online downloads.
I am just getting sick of record companies trying to force us to use some online music sites where all you get is crap sounding music, its stuck on one PC and can't be used on multiple MP3 players. There forcing people back to use illegible downloads sites. And here we are in the same situation as 4-5 year ago. Well I say stuff them, its time to remove them from the picture and allow artist put music directly on the internet and let the people who like it pay for it and give all royalties to the artist who created it.
And one final point on the World Trade Organisation, I think we can now change it to the United States Controlled World Trade Organisation.
Keep up the great work allofmp3, and as long as the site is still going, I'll be using it...

Seems the U.K. is affected too - have been getting maintenance messages too!
Real shame
110. by thomas_ruth, 4 December 2006, 19:11
The cigar comparison from one of the first posts is bogus as well. It is illegal for U.S. citizens to buy Cuban cigars anywhere, whether they are in the U.S. or not. So the jurisdiction argument doesn't cut it there.
111. by winkie, 4 December 2006, 19:32

115. by Dave, 4 December 2006, 23:50
Kevin, I'm having the same problem seems this is a common issue and is out of order for a service of this type luckily I"m only a few bucks down at the moment but really how much server maintence can there be!?
116. by BANTER, 5 December 2006, 01:02
It's a very simple concept that people want quality at an affordable price. Allofmp3.com delivers just that and more! We are consumers. It's not that the recording industry stopped listening to us. They never did in the first place!! Why should they? They obviously have the power (money) to sway even our governments. All i can say is that i hope all the money they throw at this "so called" problem is worth it. Sorry to you FAT-CAT RECORDING EXEC'S, but we will ALWAYS find a way to not let you screw us, so keep building your "better mouse traps",and we will continue to walk around them.
GOOD LUCK ALLOFMP3!!!!!!
117. by Derry, 5 December 2006, 01:06
I would be really sorry to see allofmp3 go.
I have, over the years, purchased thousands of dollars worth of music. I purchased vinyl when I was at college, then purchased much of the same music on CD and now the rip-off (and very rich) music industry would like to sell me the same stuff again for my MP3 player. No doubt (sooner or later) they are working on the next format so that they can sell us all the same stuff again.
I have also purchased many an LP and CD which, when I played them, I hated them - can I take them back ?? No!
Prior to the joining allofmp3, I had virtually stopped buying music. The sort of music I like tends not to be played too much on Radio /TV - and anyway, I do not have the time to listen. I was not prepared to spend $10+ on a CD that I may not like.
At $3 a CD form AllofMP3, I am prepared to take a risk, some are OK, some I delete and some I end up buying the CD - because I think it is worth it. I am enjoying finding artists who I have not heard before. I have now purchased many CD's after listening to an new Artist downloaded from AllofMP3.
So, as a result of allofmp3 buisness model, I have spent $200 this year on Music that I would not otherwise have spent.
I love the ability to choose the quality and file type. It is a real shame the French did not force their law through ensuring that downloads could be played on any player.
Looking to the future, I think that Governments need to step in to sort this out. I think the consumer is getting a seriously bad deal (or would be if it was not for sites like AllofMP3). I fully understand that music costs money to produce - and therefore I have to pay, but $0.99 per tune is silly.
Good luck to AllOfMP3. I would like to see them take Visa / Mastercard to court in Russia. That would prove a point.

I've gotten as much as I can from this site knowing that one day some conglomerate company running the U.S. would eventually have it shut down. I don't really care about the politics of it, the fact is that companies like ITunes charge way too much for a lower bitrate song. One dollar for one song that swirls around my speakers is a bunch of horses#!t. America needs to figure it out. They are ruining our youth and only forcing us to be corrupt and find the music for free. Sure, I would rather be "sharing" music, but no one has the hard to find stuff like allofmp3.com. Most of the music I download, I would have never bought anyways. It has essentially led me to more artists and helped with my education of music.
If anything, they should just get rid of anything that is recently released. It is these artists and their companies that care. Besides, "there hasn't been anything good put out in the past 20 years anyways." Bob Dylan said that. (Rolling Stone interview, 2006)
120. by KLD, 5 December 2006, 01:42
I hate the RIAA. Please don't close down, AllofMP3; we, in the U.S. love you.
121. by sorzel, 5 December 2006, 02:00
I have never bought much music when I was restricted to vinyl records or CDs, let alone video tapes or watching movies in the cinema. I'd typically listen to some colleague tell me something, then wait until that product is available for a price of less than 5 CHF; if they don't sell it for that, I won't get it. There's still radio, you know.
But since I have discovered online music, and since I have seen some badly formatted video previews of cinema movies, I am regularly listening to music (as I work on the computer a lot, digital music is the way to go), I am going to the music store to find CDs, I am somewhat regularly going to the movie theater and feeling myself more "involved" with what's happening. Reading internet reviews helps as much as being able to find legal affordable outlets such as this one; however, I am spending more money on CD albums that I buy in a shop or order online than ever beforehand.
I never react to colleagues telling me I should "also" go "get" something. If I can't play with it myself, I can not relate and then will not spend money on it. I'll then turn to other things to do, as I have done before in my life.
122. by Bart Snel, 5 December 2006, 02:53
I'm in Europe and AllofMP3 has been out of the air -doing maintenance - for two weeks somewhere in october. I too was afraid I had lost my balance. But fortunately, now they're back on. But, to be honest, i'll be more careful with new payments now.
123. by It was Fun, 5 December 2006, 03:24
Oh well. I used it for 2 years. Figuring this would eventually get shut down, I only filled my balance 410 at a time and i cleared it out the other night. mIrc and Newsgroups to the rescue. Not as easy to get music from, but at least it's free.
124. by Todchy, 5 December 2006, 03:28
RIAA is intimidated by downloading, not because its losing that much money, but because it gives the buying public a greater choice. Most of my purchases are made on-line and via download due to lack of availability in mainstream outlets. I do not listen to Top-40 garbage. The RIAA, up until 7 or 8 years ago, enjoyed complete dominion over what we listened to by virtue of their own hype machines. They don't like that people are making their own choices regarding what they listen to, or how they listen. They want us only to listen to the music that they (RIAA) deem worthy. The internet has taken that control away from them. People aren't spending less money on music, but they are spending less money on the prefabricated pablum the music industry tries to foist upon the listeners. RIAA isn't worried about lost revenue, or the rights of artists; they want a return of the days when they held a monopoly over music. Interesting that Russia would one day find itself on the side of free enterprise and that the RIAA would be (not surprisingly) a manelovent force of oppression.

Keep selling things. Whatever politicians wrangle about, we are entitled to our music. US record companies who set high CD prices in 1990s and held them up high should have thought about what they were doing then, as they are trying to repeat it all over again. If they shut down this site, ten more will open up, this time in some other country (China, I am sure). Technology is getting cheap, so keep market place free of price-leveraging. Good job, guys.
128. by music lover, 5 December 2006, 07:13
Yea RIAA makes money for their musicians LIKE THE MAFIA! What does an artist get off the sale of a CD like half a percent. They control what the radios play, what bookings they can play at, cd databases, and who can tour. crooks! The internet is taking away their turf but hey they have gee W bush on their side.
129. by xecc, 5 December 2006, 08:38
The US knows that this is a threat to their global dominance. With a bit of knowledge from history, and if you're clever enough, you might realize that the U.S is in fact scared of the evolution of this global industry change, because it will rework the entire economical balance from it's very roots. It's not about this site, but the model it uses. And it's about politics.

Thos is another example of why the music industry is failing. They eliminate a site where you can sample music you might not otherwise buy.

The best way for musicians to make a living is by doing live gigs and cutting out the middle men. I go to see live music and pay €10-€25 per concert. With on average 200 people at the concert that is €2000 - €5000 in takings per night. Even with overheads that is far more money than I earn. It is only when the greedy record companies get involved that things get expensive. I think AllofMP3 is great.

This site has allowed me to experiment with all types of music. This has created revenue for the bands due to attending concerts I would not normally attend. I refuse to pay $1 per song or $18 per cd. If the RIAA insists on raising fees they drive more and more individuals into illegal trading.

Problems in Sweden too. Can´t refill balance with VISA or MASTERCARD anymore, even though it says so before you get to the "Choose creditcard" site. Only cards available now are Diners(?) or JCB(?).
- Don´t fool customers if you can´t accept the cards you say you´ll accept - though now you just lost one in Sweden.
I think somewhere there lies a buried dog - as we say in Sweden...(meaning bluff)

Just so everyone doesn't get into a panic. I had an outstanding balance of about $10.00 I Just depleated it to $0.30 As I feel untill All Of MP3 makes an announcement letting everyone know where they stand and what this all means for us as Customers I may just be loosing that money!
Yes you can still download! No need to panic. Lets just show our support for All of MP3 and stop complaining about how much this sucks. And start saying how much we all love all of mp3 and that we stand behinde their business!
145. by David in Philadelphia, 5 December 2006, 21:39
I considered the XROST thing, but it looks a little too much like a con job to me.
Their only client seems to be allofmp3. I checked through the "growing community" links on their site, and couldn't find one that actually took payment through XROST. (That kind of false "innocence by association" presentation is classic internet rip-off.) And if you google XROST, virtually every mention of it also mentions allofmp3. I don't see any record of who the owners of the company are, where they're located, how to reach them by phone etc.
I'd say you're pretty foolish to give your personal information to that kind of outfit.
Much as I've loved their service, allofmp3 is engaged in theft. What's to say they (and their affiliates like XROST) won't steal from you too? Especially now that their days are numbered, and they have no reputation to preserve?

>>>Lets just show our support for All of MP3 and stop complaining about how much this sucks. And start saying how much we all love all of mp3 and that we stand behinde their business!

Ha! I love how you guys present allofmp3 as some sort of revolutionary thing as opposed to an organization that rips off musicians and their labels to our benefit. It was great while it lasted, but it wasn't an idealistic crusade. It was a way to get really cheap music while the owners earned a lot of money.
They were just ripping CD's and selling the files online. What's revolutionary about that?
But the jig is up, dude. It's not just the US that's complaining; it's every other country that maintains and enforces copyright protections. And that includes France, Antoine.

I have been using Allofmp3 for a long time. Scheduled maintenance happens every now and then. If the site is down for maintenance, it is always back later. It doesn't mean anything.
Stop whining.
149. by Steve UK, 6 December 2006, 01:14
Hi David in Philadelphia, I use XROST for payments all the time... using my visa for payment. If there are any problems with theft in the future (which I doubt) then my maximum loss is £50.... the credit card company picks up the rest of the tab!!! One final question David, do you work for RIAA or BPI perchance ;-) ... here in the UK allofmp3 is the second largest site from which music is downloaded, seems the business model works for the British. Cheers.
150. by Steve UK, 6 December 2006, 02:41
David, I use my credit cards extensively online, and I have had one or two problems but I do not let that put me off. With respect to music downloads, I do not consider that I am stealing, I do pay (albeit reduced) fees and my conscience is clear. The BPI ( UK version of RIAA) has publicly stated that it has no intention of taking legal action against UK customers of allofmp3, it just wants to close the site down!! Perhaps if itunes adopted a similar business model i.e. remove DRM, no subscription fees it would become more successful. I strongly object to being forced to download music on a subscription, fixed format basis dictated by the BPI (or RIAA). As someone has quite rightly suggested earlier in this thread, the US and the UK are both guilty of double-standards when it comes to free-trade and world commerce, for example Adidas footballs retail £14 in the UK, to make them in the Far East costs pennies!! Anyway, off the soapbox now, have a good day (or is it evening in Philly??).
151. by Nytol, 6 December 2006, 03:50
I signed up for an icard at xrost, but cant credit it to allof mp3, can someone please tell me how, as I read some of you have done it???
All of MP3 are no good at replying to eamils it seems.
152. by Nytol, 6 December 2006, 03:57
I just read the step by step xrost guide, and on the refil balance page there is no option to 'activate xrost card', I too am in the UK (is this making a difference?).
I have my pin etc, just cant seem to swop the credit to allof mp3 :(
153. by Shaun, 6 December 2006, 05:05
I can't even reload my balance unless I have a Diners Card or some other bank I have never heard of. Too bad, this was a great site.
154. by DrLex, 6 December 2006, 05:29
I'm realistic and I know this site will probably be shut down in the very near future. I can only hope it will return in some way that will make the greedy thieves of the music industry stop whining. Even if the prices would be raised up to the level of iTunes, I would still buy my music here if I can choose the format and bitrate like in the current store.
However dubious its legality may be, this site is in all other aspects an example of what an online music store should be. The catalog is huge, the user can choose the quality, and the music files aren't crippled with DRM. There's no need for DRM anyway, because people will rather pay for the guaranteed quality than download a shoddy music file from a p2p network. At least I do.
I wish you luck, Allofmp3.
155. by Tim, 6 December 2006, 07:04
Odd. I have a balance and I'm able to download. Did I mention I'm in the US? Paranoid people. Will it ever end?
156. by Chris P, 6 December 2006, 08:48
I think the site is fantastic, well put together, easy to use and you get what you pay for..I would prefer to pay for my music legally than download for free, but im pissed i cant use any more as VISA has removed their support!! I believe if a company is braking any piracy laws, then fine, shut them down..however, IF they comply to the countries laws that they are based in, (i believe ALLOFMP3 are), then STOP COMPLAINING about the site!!.. If a country has laws that you dont agree with then dont release your music there!!.. If i am a recording artist and know that XYZ country has no laws preventing distribution or copying of music, then its MY CHOICE as to whether i release my music there.. i CANNOT then complain (knowing this before hand) that my music is now being copied!
I would prefer as someone else has mentioned that ALLOFMP3 give straight answers to questions.. i spent WEEKS trying to communicate with the service department re why VISA wasnt working, but getting "fobbed off", rather than say "we cant except visa anymore" which would have been easier!..
However, DO let us know when / if you can except visa again as theres lots of music left to buy !
157. by buldozer, 6 December 2006, 11:42
We should start an online protest, "Save allofmp3". Let the anarchy out.. wuahhaha.
158. by Tanten, 6 December 2006, 12:33
First time I contacted ALLOFMP3 about VISA not working I got an answer in a few hours. The said that they would let me no whewn it works again. (If it ever will...) Anyway it's sad this whole thing. I like this site, have bought some music with the knowledge that it's not quite right to do so. All of you who see it as a "human right" to download music, movies, programs etc what are you thinking with? Your ass? You don't go into a regular shop pick whatever you want and pay let say 10% of what it's worth. Do you? Do you just charge 10% of the jobs you do? And says it's ok! It should be for free? What I mean is that I'm an hypocrite that copy and buy things "for a song". But I dont see it as MY RIGHT! to do it...

161. by CT, 6 December 2006, 21:04
Am in the UK, and as of last night, everything was working fab! allofmp3 charges a fair and reasonable price for music, which is all a consumer wants. This site will be bigger than Ebay if it carries on, and really, peoples of the world, do you think the Russian government really give a crap what the US, WTO and everyone else thinks? We have also been ripped off for years in the UK...£12 ($24) for a CD, yet 79p for a download...add this up for a 12 track CD and you've paid the same as a trip to HMV. If I pay £12 for a CD, I want artwork, sexy innovate design, bonus tracks and even live DVD etc. If I download, I want cheap, easy and mine (just like a CD, burn as many copies for me as I please, transfer to MP3 player etc) and I want to be compensated for letting them sell me music without costly artwork, sexy design etc etc Music lovers are the Football (soccer) fans of the new century, how much can they rip us off for next...MTV will cost the same as Sky Sports soon. Keep on buying, make te owners of the site a financial force to be reckoned with! Or the owners should do what someone else said, move to a country who really really don't care about the RIAA, Team America (world police) and all the others who think civil liberties is something that happened in the 60's!!

So if one pays 99 cents for an FM-radio quality song(*) on iTunes, the artist gets at most 10 cents (it's unsure what happens with those remaining 10 cents, maybe there are more intermediate persons between the artist).
Now the question is, which is the greater theft: charging people 990% of the actual value for some crippled good, or getting this good for its actual value, even though the artist will probably still get only a tiny fraction of it? I agree that neither situation is right, but the second one is at least for the consumer a whole lot better.
Keep in mind that the prices for CDs are often a whole lot higher than iTunes prices. And believe me, pressing CDs and printing booklets in large volumes really doesn't cost $10 per piece. Remember how cheap vinyl records were? The run for ridiculous prices started with the CD, probably because the dinosaurs at the music companies feared that digital quality would mean less people buying new records. All the fears of new means of distribution and the accompanying increased prices stem from similar flawed lines of thought. Now we're back to the sound quality of vinyl records, but at a tenfold of the price.
(*) even though AAC is supposed to be better than MP3, no codec will ever be able to encode an average song at 128kbps without a guaranteed inaudible quality loss. To keep the quality decent within this limited bandwidth, all songs in the iTunes store are lowpass filtered to 15.5kHz. That's the same bandwidth as FM radio.
173. by 3LB, 8 December 2006, 22:29
I agree with Dave in PA that there is a tad too much indignation with regards to MP3 downloads and the future of AOM, as if it were a birthright. But its no more outrageous than the RIAA's belief that 'music', (its creation, distribution, and how people listen) is the sole intellectual property of the RIAA. Let's be honest, the artists' cut in any media form or distributuion scheme is very small.
I will not buy into the RIAA assertion that they're merely looking after the artists' best interest. The RIAA isn't concerned with piracy, they're concerned with an ever growing listening population and dozens of splintered genres. No longer are artists given the time to develope a fanbase, they either ship gold, or they're dumped. A music industry suit uttering the word 'art' is like hearing George Bush uttering the word 'democracy'.
Its near to impossible for the record companies to push their pablum anymore, and that's because the internet has opened whole new worlds to music lovers. That's good for consumers, but its a huge problem for the RIAA; they don't want people going on the internet, reading music message boards and P2P groups, then going on these musical odessys that take them all different directions, and ultimately, making up their own minds about what music they want to hear. Before, the record companies could massage the market via narrowly formated top-40 radio (once known as 'payola'), which was the only way most people were exposed to new music, pre-MTV generation (of course, the industry figured out MTV too).
The RIAA's 50 year old business model isn't the well oiled machine it once was, but rahter than adapt, they kill the competition. They squelch innovation much the same way the oil companies do, in order to maintain the highest possible profit margins with a business model they've mastered. Its like a race car driver who no longer has the fastest car, would rather sabotage the faster cars, rather than figure out how to make his own car better.
I'm not going to lend any credence to an entity like the RIAA that wants to use word like morallity and ethics, then proceed to target 10 year old girls with crap like the Spice Girls and Britney Spears.

We all say the same thing : we love ALLOFMP3, we hate being ripped by music industry liars. Our enemy has taken the problem at the political level? Fine, then fight back! We are hundred of thousands from all parts of the world being willing to support ALLOFMP3 directly towards the Russian government. We have the energy to write to Mr Vladimir Poutine, to help him and its government make the good choice. Our money that floods in the hand of Russian trade balance has the same value that the money Russia would like to get from its WTO negotiation. And you must add the inestimable example that ALLOFMP3 brings in proving that Russian trade companies are honest, competent and offer a superior technology. Before I discovered this site two years ago, I could never imagine that I could one day give my credit card number to a Russian company! Now, it's done. ALLOFMP3 is a fantastic trading force and could easily push any other russian company directly in the top Alexa ranking : imagine this site selling also ALLOFMP3 T-shirts, MP3 USB-keys, MP3 software, russian products of all kind, and overall Russian ability!
So, I hope that ALLOFMP3 thinks deeply of its future strategies and...retains the idea of collecting letters of world wide users by millions to send them to its government! We are ready!!

while it may be illegal in the USA. it's no different than going to russia via your computer and buying the merchandise. your simply using your computer as a substitution for a plane. This is not illegal in the USA to purchase. stop bitching because nothing has changed. continue to download at will americans. or use bit-torrents instead

The music industry needs to wake up!
The AllofMP3 model works - and it works really well.
As others have posted, I too own most of the stuff I download on CD, cassette, and vinyl. It is just that I'm too lazy to re-rip them into MP3. And yes, I want all of my songs unlocked so that I can play them in my car, on my phone, and even on my watch and camcorder. With iTunes, I get one player, that's it - I can't even share my library with my wife and kids. That's stupid! :-(
I really do WANT to pay for my music, I just don't want the songs encrypted. If iTunes offered their stuff in MP3 format, I'd buy (though it is nice to pay less at AllofMP3).
Sometimes I take a chance on some unknown artist, and it turns out they totally suck, it's nice knowing that I only paid $1.32 for the album instead of $10! Who has time to preview? I want to toss that unknown album in my cart on a whim and listen to it later while I jog or mow the yard. If the album wasn't to my liking, I press delete. The artist got paid regardless.
For me, the ideal music service site would be:
1) The ability to own the song and to pay for it by the download size (the lower the quality, the lower the price). I'd pay $16.00 for a lossless CDA. But if I want the album in lossy 128K form, I should only have to pay a tenth of that.
2) Allow for multiple, unlocked formats (MP3, Ogg, WMA,...) and automatically download them onto my hard drive in Artist\Album\Track-Song format.
3) Have an unresticted (and gigantic) library to choose from. I like experimenting with artists that I've never heard of, let alone artists that I can't even pronouce. Can you say Numa Numa?
4) Offer a search engine that actually delivers what you are searching for by artist, song, genre, etc... Sometimes I don't even know what I want. Similar artists and genres are like fishing - you're not sure what you are going to get, but it's fun anyway.
5) And if I don't visit for months, I don't want to be charged for idle time (a monthly rental model).
That's my wish - a desparate wish - and only AllofMp3 offers it. I love these guys. I'm even cool with doubling the rate - just get legal, or rather, get the RIAA and others to finally wake up.
Nobody buys CDs anymore.
And lastly, if every music player in the world will play an MP3, why is it such a sin to want to buy the music in that format?
Wishing you all the best AllofMP3,
Flash Corliss

This is a copy of a comment I've posted at other blogs - hoping someone can shed some light on the following:
I'm having a frustrating time with Allofmp3. A couple of weeks ago my access to add to my balance was stopped. Message - "please contact technical support". I got very unhelpful answers to my queries. Then, I got a reply - "we have recieved chargeback on your account from xrost. Please contact with support xrost". Several attempts to communicate with Allofmp3 support resulted in the same message being repeated. Then - $45.00 removed from my balance (my last 3 iCard purchases in November 2006), putting me in the negative!
I have tried communicating with Allofmp3 again (no help, just telling me go to xrost), Xrost (no reply), Click & Buy (3 times, no reply). Frustrating and upsetting! Even if my account was unfrozen and I could add to my balance I'm wondering if adding to it will be snapped up by Allofmp3 as monies owing. And my credit card has definitely been debited for the xrost iCards I bought via Click & Buy.
Anyone else having problems? Its starting to look as if I won't be able to purchase off Allofmp3 again, for no good reason I can think of. So I feel as if I have been ripped off by $45.00.
A shame that Allofmp3 seem to be unwilling to help get this sorted - especially since I suspect Xrost is very closely linked to them!
181. by allofmp3user, 23 December 2006, 02:32
The BBC news at 10 just gave allofmp3 free advertising by running a news story about the site and how the 'poor' hight street stores like HMV are suffering due to 'ilegal' downloading. Well SCREW them, HMV and the rest, have been ripping off high street buyers for years, now they are worried because their takings are down at xmas.
I was a regular buying of music at HMV, but since finding allofmp3.com in June of this year, have not brought ANY music related items from ANY music store. Allofmp3.com IS MY music store, its, there are many reasons why, you can preview albums, its easy to download and its cheap, long may it last!!!!
182. by ourmaninmoscow, 23 December 2006, 02:42
I have posted this elsewhere, but also seems relevent here.
As has previously been said, music from the likes of iTunes and msn is overpriced. In some cases, it is cheaper to go into a UK branch of HMV (or similar) and buy the CD. We were always told that music on CD was so expensive due to the manufacturing, packaging and transport costs. With downloadable music, these are zero. I am sure that the costs of maintaining a website are relatively negligible.
Furthermore, if I buy a music CD, I can play it on unlimited machines for an unlimited amount of time, passing my CD collection down to future generations (though they'll probably prefer their own music?). Music downloaded from msn can be played on a limited number of machines - parts of my Hi Fi are 25 years old; I don't expect to keep a computer for that long! It seems that you are not really purchasing the music, just paying for an extended rental. Perhaps one should click on an icon that says "rent".
Allofmp3 has stood out from the other music providers.
- They have offered a much greater choice, including music that I personally been unable to provide elsewhere, in some cases providing me with music I originally purchased on vinyl. It may have later been released on CD but later had limited availability second hand; the music equivalent of out of print.
- They offered a greater choice in terms of the quality of the product, the customer paying different tariffs according to the downloaded bite rate. Other providers of downloadable music charge sums comparqable to CD quality for something that is significantly compressed to the point of sounding significantly inferior on good quality audiophile equipment.
One final point, music downloaded from msn costs 99cents a track from the US site and 69 pence from the UK site. This gives an exchange rate of 1GBP = 1.43USD. As a UK expat whose salary was fixed in USD, I have not known such an exchange rate for about 4 years! I believe that such an exchange rate was the "best" on record, at least in recent history. It seems that those customers in the UK are being even more ripped off than the rest of the world. They could at least allow UK customers to pay the same as US customers according to the current exchange rate of around 1.8! They cannot justify this by varying production costs between countries.
Allofmp3 has enabled me to listen to music I had not listened to for years (since my tuntable ceased to perform satisfactorily) and to explore a much more varied library. As such, allofmp3 has done much to promote world culture and should be recognized for their contribution to world music. Thanks for all that allofmp3 have done, and good luck! Hopefully, the very existence of allofmp3.com may shake up the industry a little bit and lead to a fairer deal to the world's music lovers.
183. by Breezer, 20 January 2007, 20:22
I wouldn't even buy most of the songs that I have if I had to pay 99 cents. So if you look at the big picture...more people are buying songs and paying for songs they would not otherwise consider buying those songs. In the long run the musicians make more money and gets a larger following. Duh.

I read a lot about the legal issues of allofmp3. Well following the morality of those who claim allofmp3 is illegal, we should buy nothing of all multinational companies, or products coming from China or other so called low labor cost countries, because this means supporting those who do not pay a fair loan to those who work. Even if Allofmp3 would raise their prices to let's say 5 USD a CD and pay what they are claimed not to pay, they would be sued by the majors.
