I've used the service for just over three years now, and I appreciate what you have to offer. I have to say though, that posting articles about new music seems silly at best, while virtually all of your customers are without any way to PAY YOU for that music.

Posting a single, vague message saying that you'll announce something in a few days is a very poor response, which actually makes you look worse, not better.

I urge you, as several others already have, to address these payment issues in some MEANINGFUL way, and to do so QUICKLY.

You can't use either method unless you have a diner's card or whatever other card the sites are asking for. :(

my mastercard works fine don't know wtf is so hard about it. i can add funds no problem.

Let us loyal customers have the music for free, if you're not accepting payments.

I have no problem using the Xrost top-up method. What worries me more, is what's going to happen in June when the Russian law is changed?

Xrost isnt even available atm. There is really no way to pay at all, other than with Diners or JCB card.

As this site is deemed illegal, many credit-card companies are being forced into not allowing their card holders to transfer any more payments to this site.

How did you get MasterCard to work? Like Leo and others - all I can get to is Diner's Club or JCB. I am a US businessman that uses credit card processing and I've never even known anyone who had a Diner's Club and never even heard of JCB. Something has to give hear.

How 'bout an update allofmp3? Can't you see how many upset customers you have? Even if it is going to be a week or month to sort things out - PLEASE give us some sort of update!

As JTC says, the problem we're having is that MasterCard isn't even being presented to us as an OPTION. I have both Visa and MasterCard, and had absolutely no problems with Xrost, when it was available.

Now, however, as several of us have tried to explain, the ONLY OPTIONS we're being presented with are Diner's Club and JCB cards.

If you, G, still see other payment options available to you when you log into your account, I can only conclude you're not in the US, and are therefore still able to at least indirectly fund your account with your MasterCard.

I have been using this service for ages as well. I wanted to reassure my US friends that refilling is impossible even for us outside your territory. I was wondering whether dear allofmp3 would consider adding PayPal as a payment service. An indirect way, and since our bank accounts can be used to fund transactions, maybe it would be possible. The problem is,.. would PayPal agree or would it also be intimidated by IFPI & RIAA? I think I know the answer to that!

Colaz is telling the truth, I just had a friend from England try it, and it would not go either. No other options.

PayPal WAS an option (at least in the US), but was dropped quite some time ago, and can't be reinstated. Remember that PayPal was purchased by eBay, and since that time has sought to disassociate itself from any company or service that even MIGHT have legal issues.

Yup, using the "add funds by credit card" is coming up as not available and I'm going around in circles.

I have also managed to refill my balance today using a Mastercard, however, a friend (who had only used VISA before) was receiving the error message 'Unfortunately credit card payment is not available at the moment'. We both used the same computer as he showed me the error message using my computer before i logged in as myself and completed my refill balance transaction as per normal (and as per dickie's post), so if u have a mastercard maybe register a new allofmp3 account and see if u can make a payment using your mastercard ?!?!?

I'm a UK user and top up using xrost. I purchase UKASH pin at PP points (spar for instance) and convert to xrost pin via xrost website.
When you log in to allofmp3, go through top up process as if making payment by card. cilck on pay by card and look at the web address - substitute the last part "=ccard" with "=xrost" hit return and you will be at the xrost top up page - works fine for me

As of today, even Diner's Club cards have been removed as a funding option in the US. That means at the moment, JCB --- a card I've never even seen or heard of anyone using, is the ONLY available US payment option.

I must repeat my original plea to the AllofMP3 staff: Please tell us SOMETHING specific. Even if you can't give us a time frame, and even if you must be careful of the statements you make because of legal issues, telling us SOMETHING is better than telling us NOTHING. The method described in comment 31, is not at all complicated, and it WILL give you the opportunity to enter an xrost payment. The problem is, that it is not currently possible to buy an iCard from xrost now, and hasn't been for several days, at least not in the US.

Could someone explain what happend with RIAA against Allofmp3...?

I must agree completely with comment 48. When "music_news" makes a comment, it's one that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the important issue being discussed. Most of us already know that this site offers us higher quality, which is why we don't give up on it yet, even with the apauling lack of communication.

Unfortunately, what makes AllofMP3 truly unique at the moment, is that unlike other sites, it is now almost impossible for us to actually PURCHASE music.

Come let us long time customers get music for free, if we can't pay. Stick 30 into our accounts as a goodwill gesture.

Why don't people in the nine American states that have the JCB card buy All Tunes Pin Codes (with their JCB card) and sell them on to us at eBay? Then All Tunes/Allofmp3 would live on for a while longer and we can comtinue to pay a reasonable price for our music :-)

I couldn't agree more! If new payment solutions are not forthcoming, close the site down and save us all from pointless hoping. If new solutions ARE being worked on (truthfully - not empty promises), just say so and we'll try to be more patient.

I wonder if the AllofMP3 staff have considered MoneyBookers as a payment option. It's similar to PayPal, but may take a more open-minded stance on the questions now surrounding AllofMP3.

I would ask AllfofMP3 this directly, but I suspect they would no longer do me the courtesy of replying in a timely or coherent manner.

Well im in the UK and i went to the login screen and signed in, went to payment option and the credit and debit card button has returned, looks like mastercard is working but ive got visa so im in trouble. Post 17 is the best i think.

No, Mastercard doesn't work in the UK. Yes the button is there but follow it through and you'll see it's not possible.

Neither site accepts Visa or Mastercard Now it has also lost the Xrost facility. A goodwill gesture for those (like me) that have used this service for 3-4 years might well be to add $50 or $100 to our balances until such time as normal service is resumed.

Russian people have another solution of paiment similar to xrost but in order to use it you have to change your "user preference" and change country (and maybe also the language) unfortunatly I don't manage to use it because I don't speak russian and google translation not very good (like my english).
But I don't know if russian providers use visa or mastercard and also if it's possible to add some money on your aomp3 account !

If someone test it and describe the way, we can use it but i have some doubt because the allofmp3 team don't say anything maybe they manage to block now this solution (if it is a realy solution ... !!!)

I tried to register for allpay. Didn't quite work - however, the actual domain that the registration email was sent from was "xrostpayments.biz". Perhaps this is where we should be looking for action...

The AllPay system does look like it will work but I think that the process of doing it is going to be very complicated if you don't speak Russian! Google Translate won't work beyond a certain point but if you look carefully you can see ultimately what needs to be done. I'm hoping that before the weekend is out that there may be an easier route to do this but if I manage to make it work I will let y'all know.

Me either. I don't think CC top up of Webmoney is possible. I read elsewhere on the internet that good ol' Chronopay had a set up with webmoney but I can't find it. I've emailed their support but won't expect a reply.

I did try this with Mozilla but it doesn't make a huge amount of difference. The problem is still the same. I'm going to hope that allpay comes up with a better way of being funded than webmoney.

I agree that AllofMP3 are not entirely to blame for the payment problems, however responsibility lies with them to let their customers know wtf is going on. We have received no information about what they plan to do, and the customer service has been appalling. I understand the sticky situation they are in, and I (like everyone else) hate RIAA, but AllofMP3 are not handling this nearly as well as they could.

Please give it a minute, saying 'I am a custommer I have rights blablabla' won't help you at all. This site has to fight against international boycotting, help them instead of complaining. For the payment problems I will tell you this. You can refill your balance with credit cards, at this time only with a mastercard. Visa users can no longer select that option but a few months ago it was the same case, after some days I tried again an I could use my visa again. It just takes them some days to work their power I guess.

I'm sure allofm is trying to give you the options to pay any way they can, but I can figure out by myself it's a tough battle, respect guys, hope to refill soon.

I already wrote to my creditcard company asking to let me use the card for allofmp3. Here is the answer;

Do you believe this? They say my local bank is blocking my payments what a freakin joke response. In reality now Visa and Mastercard have stopped accepting credit card transactions for music downloading site AllofMP3, which is accused of "illegally selling songs."

"The action Visa has taken is in line with legislation passed in Russia and with basic international copyright and intellectual property norms," a Visa spokesman said. (haha visa have just set the norms themself now I guess)

A Mastercard spokesman added the firm "did not tolerate the use of its network for illegal activity". (bbc news)

Interesting what Visa told you. It's complete rubbish as they handle everything on behalf of their partner banks but from a legal perspective I know that my bank wouldn't give a toss where I was spending my own money. Indeed, if allofmp3 accepted wire transfers, my bank would never say to me "Oi, you can't send these people money".

The interesting legal point is, therefore, do Visa have a right to restrict how the end user spends their money? Nobody has actually proved that allofmp3's service is illegal anyway (not in a court) so until that is done Visa And Mastercard should take the side of the end-user, surely? Let's put it another way - if my bank happened to offer me a JCB card at this point in time, I'd sign up like a shot so it can hardly be good ultimately for Visa and Mastercard's respective reputations?!

I am not a lawyer but if one happens to be reading this site, a legal opinion on Visa and Mastercard's relationship with their bank customers would be interesting.

Thanks Art. And I really do sympathise with everyone's frustration on here but I don't think one can lambast allofmp3 for the faults of Visa and Mastercard. As I said, it's my money that I want to spend and I don't want to spend it at iTunes. Who are Visa/MC to dicatate where we spend our money? The long-term implications for that are quite worrying - what if I wanted to buy shoes directly from China but Western companies said "No, No, we want to do that and charge a mark-up". Will Visa/MC channel the business for them by banning the use of our cards to obtain goods from cheaper sources?

If they do, expect to see their near-duopoly terminated. Whilst corporations may dominate the world's trading space, it's the little people like us who dictate trends and the success of brands and services. It only takes one cock-up for people to desert something. And it only takes one good start-up for everyone to join in. Here's a working example; when Apple said most of the available iTunes catalogue is only for US citizens what on earth did the RIAA expect the rest of the world to do? For us, allofmp3 was the only - and better option.

The irony is that the RIAA are blocking our freedom of choice and this, in itself, is surely in contravention of world trade freedom. Yes, the RIAA represent (some, not all) US artists. They don't represent everybody. Amongst everything else, I want to download Tchaikovsky from this site, recorded by Russian musicians (and out of copyright). But I can't because the RIAA says so? That is a crackpot method of rule and the US threatening Russia from expulsion from the WTO is unethical and contradictory if it penalises Russian musicians and artists from greater exposure. Do you think that the Russian artists on this site could get released through iTunes? Somehow, I think they'd find it a bit difficult, don't you?

Overall, my view is that the actions of Visa/MC are illegal on the global trade platform. There is nowhere in the Terms and Conditions of my agreements with both companies that says that they have the right to block transactions unless they are illegal or criminal. Allofmp3's service is neither. So, who, is breaking agreements now? I hope that allofmp3's lawyers read this site!

As for why the site is still open, the simple answer is that;
a) Some people still have credit in their accounts.
b) For some countries, top-up is still possible. If you're US/UK obviously not. But, in Russia (and some other places), it still is.

Realistically, I don't think we're going to see a return to Mastercard and Visa transactions. Between now and the supposed closure of the site, wire transfer will be a possibility. You need to have a mastery of Russian and "Webmoney" mixed with a lot of trust though.

Sorry to get hop on my soap-box there!

And before anyone says anything, I do realise that Russia is not yet part of the WTO and that the threat against them by the US is that they won't be allowed to join unless this site is closed down.

There's far more serious issues in Russia and other parts of the world, than this site. How the hell can they dictate world politics??? But then again, we are talking about a US Government that's completely out of control.

As to the response from the VISA to the person who complained about inability to pay to AllofMP3.
VISA says it has nothing to do with it. That's a lie. Banks stop accepting payments only under pressure from VISA's HQs. The common and very efficient threat to the bank is that VISA (or MC) will exclude that bank from the payment system.

A message I received from Technical Support:

Unfortunately it is not possible to pay by a credit card for the time being. You can use ways of payment currently only available to you account. xxx.com seems almost identical to allofmp3.com, but with lower quality files (tho not 128 kb fortunately). It's apparently Russian, and the same prices as Allofmp3, but accepts all the normal visa / mastercard cards. Double standards?

sorry, we are not happy with other sites being advertised at ours. FYI, other Russian sites simply buy music from our catalogue (or rather the most popular items) and then sell it in 128 kbps. They haven't drawn any attention of either IFPI or RIAA being small and totally dependent on the existence of the AllofMP3's catalogue anyway. (Those small stores are not affiliated to AllofMP3 in any way. They just have been buying music from us).

Yes, I have tried 15 other Russian music websites, some of them using multiple names for the same website or just a variantion of the original allofmp3, they ar all crap, not one of them offers the 320 kbps quality I have been able to enjoy here...

To Corben: if you could sum up your comments they might make a good post for our Journal page.

One possible solution - if you do a search for allofmp3 on Ebay, you'll find a guy based in Australia. He's selling 50 dollar gift certs for 63 dollars - not too bad when you consider he's paying commission too. Perhaps some Russian based entrepreneurs could do the same - I'd be happy to pay the premium.

Hi, when do you think your payment options will be avaiable again?

Buying a 50 dollar gift certificate for a 25% markup kind of defeats the object of not paying iTunes prices. I haven't compared the two though.

There is another way to do it. Try setting your country to Russian Federation and Language to Russian and look for the new payment option. Having finally worked it out, I can confirm that it does work. I've just added $50 to my account and I didn't have to pay a markup in the process :)

In brief, you need to use translate.google.com (hint: cut and paste text from your browser - Google can't translate nested site pages). And yes, Allpay is the option to choose. It should be pretty self-evident from there I hope ... anyway, have a go. It does work, I promise, and if I get the all-clear, I will post a blog entry detailing what I did.

The main problem with the allpay route, is the way of getting money into your account. I have yet to find a direct way to pay. The possible routes look like e-Gold => WMZ or e-Bullion => WMZ.

Yes, allpay has to be topped up with Webmoney first. Webmoney cannot be purchased with a credit or debit card.

I tried exactly the same thing and was redirected to Chronopay and that ol' JCB card option.

If I had to guess - and it's only a guess - it must be something to do with IP numbers and where your ISP is located. Having said that, I have tried various proxy servers and even cleared the cache on my browser and I always get the same result.

sorry, we are not happy with other sites being advertised at ours. FYI, other Russian sites simply buy music from our catalogue (or rather the most popular items) and then sell it in 128 kbps. They haven't drawn any attention of either IFPI or RIAA being small and totally dependent on the existence of the AllofMP3's catalogue anyway. (Those small stores are not affiliated to AllofMP3 in any way. They just have been buying music from us).

If that is the case then how come some of the 'other Russian mp3' sites offer music that allofmp3 dont have, and vice versa. I dont beleive that they ALL use allofmp3 to suppy their own sites with music, if that was the case they would have to charge more then allofmp3, as they would have to pay allof a fee for using their music catologue, instead they are ALL chepear then allofmp3, for a standard 192kps mp3!

I've tried these guys too but I think it's pretty rotten that you only get 24 hours within which to download your music. First time I tried it, without me realising the broadband connection at home went down. When I got back from work in the evening, only some of it had downloaded. When I reconnected etc., the downloads had expired and I had to pay for them all over again. IMHO that sucks.

The other issue I have with them is the way they have titled the tracks. If you use iTunes software to manage your own catalogue, you'll spend ages renaming the downloaded files so that they are correctly listed.

Yeah, you have to watch your downloads or they time out, I get this with allofmp3 aswell though so as long as you keep an eye on it you're ok.

Also in the abscence of anything else, or paying £7 an album on iTunes I'll cope!

For me it still takes me to the site with only one possibility (JCB). It would be nice if allofmp3 would give an update of actions they undertake to assure that we can pay here. After all, there is no use in giving customers the idea that they are not aware about it or are not paying attention to this problem.

To HQ : for tagging your MP3 (rename, add jpeg ... and even renaming files try MP3TAG (Softpedia)

For me all the other "mp3xxx.ru" are bad because you CANT'T setup the files you want (VBR Extreme for me)

Totally agree about the VBR - I use Extreme as well :) That's the big problem with EVERY single other site.

The ability to use mastercard or not must be based on IP address. Has anyone tried using IP blocking software to conceal your IP and post a different one ie Australian?

Prior to a few days ago, I was being directed to the Chronopay page, and the only option was JCB. I had even tried changing my country to Russian Federation, so clearly something has changed on the part of AOM.

I have just subscribed to an alternative Russian site. This uses ChronPay as its funding source - and almost any kind of credit card is accepted. The fact that allofmp3 cannot be funded in this way must be due to the card companies - not an issue that allofmp3 seems to have any control over - I hope it can be resolved but I fear the worst. The kind of greed which the music industry enjoys seems to know no bounds. I'm sure I read recently that they were threatening to prosecute anyone who sold an mp3 player with music still on the hard drive - even if it had been legally purchased via iTunes or whoever. What next - a ban on selling second-hand CD's and vinyl?

I have just added $30 to my account but it is not quick and it does cost you more than just the $30.
essentially the process is as follows:
1) change your allofmp3 settings to country-Russia, language-Russian
2) Go to balance section (your gonna need google translate tool here) and you'll see allpay is a payment option
3) Then go to webmoney.ru and download and install webmoney classic
4) Then you need to fund your WMZ purse, which is the payment method that allpay takes.
5) go to www.exwp.com (they have an english option) and you can buy WMZ with paypal-NOTE; IT COSTS YOU APPROX $10 COMMISSION.)
6) Apply for the amount of USD WMZ you need, adding the commission amount shown PLUS $2-3 for the allpay commmission you will have to pay.
7) after confirming a few details (check the applications section of the exwp site) you will be given paypal details and then after payment through paypal the money will be deposited in you WMZ purse in Webmoney Classic

I've used the same system without losing anything in commission. If you buy WME (Electronic Money) and then use a Russian company to convert this to WMR (Roubles) or WMZ (Dollars), you lose some value (not much) during the exchange process - however, because AllOfMp3 gives you a bonus when you top up, this actually more than compensates. I've found that I'm getting $1 to $1 this way.

There are loads of entries on Google about Webmoney, WME/R/Z etc.

I did it...lost the $10 commission. However, I'll look into this other way next time.

TOP TIP: Activeate your webmoney account via SMS. I didn't, and it didn't appear in the error messages I got, but it turned out to be why I couldn't buy on allpay

A suggestion?? Couldn't allofmp3 put a load of gift certificates on ebay? We could then buy using paypal. Would cost us a fraction more but as bigron82 says, still way better than that i tunes rip-off. allofmp3 would obviously lose a little on commission but they'd be keeping us happy.

Bigron82: wmtransfer.com has a few pointers to WME. You can also buy other internet currencies such as egold and ebullion and convert those to WME and then on to WMZ/R. If you find a good exchange site, you don't really lose that much in commission particularly when you take the bonus into account.

I looked into several conversion sites and found one that was nice and simple. I have it on the office computer and when I go in tomorrow, I can post it then if you haven't found one by then....

Sorry to see all my fellow enthusiasts out there struggling with the system. From Australia and using a Mastercard (interestingly issued from a US based major bank), I have just gone thru a bog standard 'Refill my Balance' process from the 'Balance' tab and my $10 top up went thru with no problems at all. AllofMP3 only offering a MasterCard option at this stage, which that was not a problem for me. I tried the .co.uk site, and it did not work out for me. At the time, the site advertised 4 hour max delivery, which since has been changed to 24 hour max delivery. I used paypal, so when I didnt get the code, I argued it and got my money back. I wouldn't advice it simply because I did not get a code. If you do try it, use paypal so you can don't get screwed.

This site closing in June? Who said? Slowly fading? I'm checking here daily for new albums and downloading. Everything seems to be working fine with the exception of payment. The community seems to finding work arounds. Other sites DO NOT have as comprehensive a catalog.

Being a Brit I've used www.allofmp3vouchers.co.uk a couple of times. I can vouch for it's reliability, speed and trustworthiness. If you give them your username, they even credit your account for you, so you don't have to update it yourself. Nice service, with a friendly guy running it. I saw that a few people had questions about what the heck a JCB card is...basically it is a Credit Card company based soley out of California and Hawaii.
