Danish ISP forced to block customers from AllofMP3.com
In this long dispute between the site and IFPI the latter will try everything to push AllofMP3 out of business. The WTO thing did not work. Russia defends its conditions of entery and its negotiators said this week that unless their conditions are accepted, Russia is not interested. (Just to remind, there was a condition from USA lobbyists – that Russia must shut the site to be able to join WTO).
Another recent attack by IFPI is a civil suit in Denmark against one of the ISPs there. And this week the court finally ruled that Tele2 must block its customers from using AllofMP3.com.
“The telecommunications industry in Denmark has expressed outrage and concern over the verdict, as they feel it implies ISPs are now responsible for the activities of their users – not to mention a legal gray area where no verdict has been made against AllofMP3. “I’m shocked about the verdict, and view it as censorship. Tele2 and other Internet service providers provide free access to information on the internet, but now have to sort this information,” said Ib Tholstrup, Director of the Telecommunication Business Organization (rough translation). “This is unknown territory for us, and it is the same as if the Post Offices should read all the letters they are handling. I deeply condemn this verdict… Tele2 is committed to appealing the verdict. outrageous indeed.. but say, when can we who aren't blocked expect to be able to access the site again? the "scheduled maintenance" has been going on for almost 20 hours now...

This is insane. Next we must sue IFPI for making CD's that can be copied. After all, it is NOT illegal to browse allofmp3.com.

When will the music indusrty get its crap together and ride this wave of consumer internet music downloading? This is the wave of the future, there is no going back. Prohibition did not work for alcohol in the USA in the 20's, it won't work for music today. There is no going back. My suggestion to the music industrial complex is to ride this wave and figure out how to best profit from it, like open your own allofmp3 type site. Hell, without CD making and distribution cost, you can easily do this and keep music inexpensive. Get with it, fools, you can not stop us now.

Why don't you (allofmp3) get a dedicated IP address?
That way everyone could open the site using the ip and there would be no need for users to changed DNS when ISP's "block" access.
Or get some extra domains that redirect to the site.

If you are hit by this blocking, this is how you change DNS in Windows XP to OpenDNS. Note that this is a translation from a danish explanation, and that my puter is in danish, so there might be some of the terms that is not correct. Anyway I hope you can figure it out, it's quite simple.
Go to control panel.
Open Net connections.
Rightclick on your netcard and settings.
Mark Internet Protokol (TCP/IP) and click settings.
Choose Use following DNS-serveradress.
Prefered DNS-server : 208.67.222.222
Alternative DNS-server : 208.67.220.220
Click OK 2 twice.
