Warner starts selling downloads without DRM

This week the Warner Music Group, the forth-largest label has started to sell digital downloads without DRM protection.

The company opted not to work with the iTunes store for this project, although it’s been announced that downloads are iPod compatible and are priced similarly as at iTunes: around 99 cents per song.

To prevent downloads unprotected by DRM being leaked to the file sharing networks, files are downloaded straight to portable MP3 players without being stored on a PC.

The Warner Music Group is the second label sell DRM free downloads after EMI did the same last month.

I dont really care about this. but why do you bother updating and posting wonderful new alubms on allofmp3 site but without actually letting us to refill the balance to purchace them?

2. by steady, 10 June 2007, 22:44

Amen to the refill of the balance. what's going on here, do you sell music or not.

3. by juztruckin, 11 June 2007, 11:11

Well folks does anyone know of any p2p sites still hangin around out there? I think were out of luck with this site. Not all their fault tho, lets all thank visa, mastercard ect. ect! Just wonder what Allofmps intends to do with all those pennys left over in our accounts.

yup...i think the site is toast as far as USA goes. haven't been able to replenish balance for quite some time now. i guess my 24 cents is gone forever!

If you have spent a reasonable amount with Allofmp3, e.g. $300+, then do a search for the (unofficial) aom3 forums where there is a solution. But ONLY if you've spent that amount or more.

I 100% agree with BL's comment above.
What I would like to see from AOM3 is more communication to keep us informed of what the current situation and just how the "battle" is progressing. However, having said that, a shrewd commander would never disclose his battle plans to anyone so I'm not surprised that little information has been released. Perhaps we'll just have to "grin and bear it" until the battle is won so to speak. I know it's frustrating but I think we should stop moaning, be more positive, and give them our support. If you think we feel bad about our inability to transfer money into our accounts with them and subsequently buy the music we like, I'm quite sure they feel one heck of a lot worse so let's stop moaning and whinging and give them our support.

I hate the way everyone on this site whines all the time at every opportunity. Do you think it really helps? Do you think that as a result of all your whining all of mp3 will decide to let people pay again? Oronly if enough people whine they'll go about fixing the problem?

8. by Nightfly, 14 June 2007, 03:12

Ian.. I like you're thinking there..why are these people even here if they don't care..go else where.. if you're not here to give support..
complaining and moaning will not help in anyway..as Fionn has stated..
Because remember if allofmp3 goes down. all the other similar sites will fall.. you will be paying Itunes .99 ..(they will then raise their prices because thats what greedy types like the RIAA do) 4 Ever..and it will be because you were to short sighted to take a stand... and just cared about yourself and your balance...I have nothing in mine and could care less..you don't hit anyone when they are down and being attacked..

I have been a supporter of allofmp3 for years and will continue to support them until this is worked out. In the meantime, what other sites do you recommend getting music that are similar to allofmp3?

10. by Daniel, 16 June 2007, 19:56

What's the problem? I refilled my balance today using my credit card (Mastercard)... no problem!

11. by MLS, 19 June 2007, 05:01

So whats the trick to doing it then?

12. by saxysmsj, 19 June 2007, 12:20

I assume allofmp3 would gladly receive our payments, why else would they have set up this site. It is the "music industry" who is trying to prevent us from paying, so we go to iTunes and the rest. So AOM3 is setting up new sites, not (yet) known to their "ennemies", so they can't promote them officially... Alltunes was one of these sites, I guess. I can't pay there either. So they already set up another site, which seems to have the same content as allofmp3. I am trying my luck there, although the colour scheme sucks:( ...

There is no better site than allofmp3 in all kinds of music. I did spent hours on the internet to search for similiar sites which could be better. allmusic.com is my guidline. Always I come back to allofmp3
easy to find what I want. It is only a pitty that we cannot fill up our balances and make use of allofmp3.

Go to www.songboom.com for options

at least itunes and the other software lets you pay for the song... What is the point of this site not being able to refil the ballance...

16. by by DH, 26 June, 2007, 26 June 2007, 23:51

Finally I find out what is going on. I have also been trying to refill my balance and getting nowhere. I also found the 'other' site to buy, even set up a new account, the colour is so army like but hey I just want to buy the albums. But alas even here, I am unable to buy music. Lets hope the 'war' is sorted out. Its so frustrating why should we pay 79p a song whereas here you can get two to three songs for that amount. Lets hope it gets sorted soon. But I feel we should be kept updated instead of 'please wait' without any explanation!

LOG-IN PROBLEM SOLVED?

After several weeks of getting the cyber-runaround from both ALLOFMP3.ru and MP3SPARKS.ru (allofmp3.COM is dead and buried), suddenly I was able to log into MP3SPARKS.ru using my ALLOFMP3 user name and password. I didn't ask the Russians to transfer my account, they did that on their own.

After I logged in to MP3SPARKS, I found that my "new" account had my old ALLOFMP3 balance and checklist, and even my messages to/from Assistance. I've now downloaded several songs from MP3SPARKS, no problem.

The website layout, the pricing, and the music catalog (so far as I can tell) for MP3SPARKS are the same as for ALLOFMP3.

My only complaints? 1) Making me sweat bullets for several weeks, before I could again log in and shop for songs. 2) The olive-drab-and-orange color scheme of MP3SPARKS.ru hurts my eyes.

I haven't tried adding money to my MP3SPARKS account yet; but for the moment, I don't need to.

I'm a user of allofmp3. But unfortunately, I can't log in MP3SPARKS.ru . I still have my balance in allofmp3. I'm so disappointed.
